Asylum
Welcome to IGN's Walkthrough for Outriders. This page contains a full guide for the mission, Asylum, which takes place in the forest.
While the crew was exposed to the fungus, you've all been saved by a tribe living in the forest that has developed an antidote. Now that the truck has been wrecked, it's time to find your original expedition truck and scrap it for parts so you can keep going on your way.

Find the Truck
- Enter the Enclave's main camp.
From your camp outside of the Enclave, you can chat to your crew mates as per usual, then when you are ready, head towards the Explorer Flag in the distance, and then keep going forward over the wooden bridge towards the main camp.
- Explore the forest and locate the old Outriders' truck.
Now that you are in camp, you have the option to take on a couple of side quests. When you are ready, head forward past the first tents and head right once you reach the statue of the monster in the center of the camp.
Head towards the ammo box, stock up, and then use the gate to exit the enclave.
After being serenaded by Jakub, it's time to head forward. Now is also a good time to check if you got any good loot from the Chrysaloid if you haven't already. Head around the tree in front of you and past the creek.
Follow the path around to the right as you pass the waterfalls in the distance to your left, and you will suddenly be in a firefight.

- Clear the Area
You've been approached by a Crawler, a new type of enemy who packs an anomalous punch. It can launch a number of ranged attacks at you, such as Overcharge that sends projectiles along the ground in a star pattern. I can also launch more directed attacks, like it's Obliterating Beam. This is well telegraphed by the danger zone on the ground, so you should just be able to side-step it or dodge it when being cast.
It doesn't have too much health, so if you can slow or stun it, you should start making quick work of it. Once it's health is around half way depleted, some backup Perforo will spawn in to join the fight. These are just the normal grunts, so take them out as you have before.
- Clear the Path
With the Crawler and Perforo down, you can press forward. If you approach the path on the right hand side, you can find a loot chest and an Iron Ore deposit. Otherwise, head towards the objective marker. Place a new Explorer Flag, stock up on ammo, and keep moving.
Move forward through the glowing red lights, and then turn left after the river-bed camp.
- Defeat the Monster.

You've got the jump on a small group of Perforo. Use this moment to attack the Venomous ones, and then clear them out as per usual. Once they are dealt with, move forward to fight the next group.
Down the hill, a couple of smaller groups of Perforo are approaching. These groups are pretty small in comparison to the horde you fought in the Quarry, so they should prove to be next to no challenge.
Once the grunts are all down, a new monster will appear, a Blood Morpher. Some cross between a Perforo and humanoid creature, this beast has a lot of health and many skills that it will throw your way.
It's Dispersion ability is essentially a dash that will damage you if you let the Blood Morpher catch you. Impale launches Anomaly energy from the ground in a spike. The creature will also run quite fast up to you and swipe at you with it's large limbs.
The arena is quite large, with winding pathways that cross over other pathways, so if you need some distance, start sprinting down these paths. The Morpher takes a lot of hits, so unless you can counter it with a slow or freeze debuff, try to stay mobile and ahead of it's swipes.
After enough shooting, it should come down. There's no back up for this beast, this is just a one-on-one fight.
- Clear the Rocks
advertisement
You can explore the intertwining arena to find a loot chest or two, and then when you're ready, head to the objective marker to push forward. You can also restock your ammo near the entrance to the fight.
Once you have cleared the rocks, head forward through the cavern and down the hill towards the right. With all of the calls from creatures in the forest, a fight is certainly lurking nearby.
- Clear the Nest
Sure enough, you have stumbled into a Perforo nest. Two Venomous Perforo will greet you as you enter, so keep strafing to avoid their toxic projectiles. Two more will spawn in once the first two are dealt with, so keep shooting and stay agile.
With the greeting party dealt with, the rest of the group is starting to arrive. They will just be standard Perforo, so it shouldn't be too difficult to clear the field.
Once dealt with, you will have a brief moment to rest before the rest of the fight. Press forward into the nest to find the rest of what is lurking in the darkness for you.
In front of you is a nest in the ground, surrounded by a path on all sides. Out of and beside the nest will spawn three Strix. As before, try to focus on one of them at a time as they spawn in so that you can simplify the field. Use your skills frequently and take them down quickly so that you can survive the fight.

- Clear the Path
While chatting to Dr. Scurlock about the folly's of war, grab any loot you missed and then head towards the right of the nest. If you double back and turn around to the right again you will find a loot chest on a ledge. Then head towards the objective marker to break through the fallen branches.
Drop down from the ledge and then keep heading forward through the spiked pathway and down the hill.Once you start to see another small riverbed, it's time to get ready for another fight.
- Clear the Area.
Another Crawler will emerge from the other side of the river. Watch out for their ranged attacks again and start taking it down and interrupting it's skills with your own. It's Overcharge skill has a lot of room here to deal damage to you, so make you are watching out for those projectiles during this fight.
Once the Crawler's health is below half, Perforo will arrive as back up to complicate things. There aren't too many of them, and they are all of the smaller variety, so they shouldn't prove too much of a challenge, just continue to watch for the Crawler's ranged attacks.
Once the Crawler's is down, three Strix are going to spawn in from further down the river along with a few remaining Perforo. Heal off the Perforo and then laser focus one of the bugs to take them out quickly. The faster there are less Strix attacking you, the better.

Once you have taken out about half of the Strix's collective health, more Perforo will spawn in again as back up. Keep moving to dodge the Strix's attacks, and take out the Perforo to heal up and simplify the encounter. With them down, it should be a simple matter of taking out each of the remaining Strix to progress.
- Clear the Path.
Loot up while speaking to Kang over the radio, and then move up to the left side of the river to clear the path and plant a new Explorer Flag. You can also choose to move up the right side of the river to find a loot chest.
Once you've stocked up on ammo rom the Explorer Flag, head forward, and then to the right towards your next objective.
- Clear the Area.
You've found another Perforo nest, so this is going to be a long fight. It will start with just a few small Perforo, before more drop down from above, backed up by their Venomous counterparts. Keep strafing and keep them at a distance. They have to come to you so you can stay back and take them down pretty easily.
Move forward once they are down to enter the main arena. This area has two raised edges along the left and right, with a center channel down the middle. These ledges are great for getting some distance between more challenging foes, but a lot of the Perforo can also climb these, so they won't keep you 100% safe.
As you take out each smaller contingent, more will spawn, but they will only come in numbers of about a half dozen or so, so keep taking them out and strafing the Venomous Perforo's shots.
advertisement
Once there are a larger number of Venomous Perforo around, you can expect an Alpha to show up as well. More backup will spawn in periodically, so keep moving and shooting as you take down the Alpha and keep a distance from their lunging attacks.
As soon as the Alpha is taken down, a Scarskin is going to leap in from the back of the arena. This Perforo is very similar to a Brood Mother, Use the ridges on the sides to keep some distance from the Scarskin, and also the backup enemies that will spawn in as well. If you're in too close or low on health, there is very little cover so it is best to sprint away until you regain health or can take down some weaker enemies.
Keep taking down the Scarskin's health with any skills you have available, as the little Perforo will keep spawning in when the Scarskin uses Brood Calling, demanding your attention so that you do not become overwhelmed. Venomous Perforo will also spawn in, so take them down to avoid being whittled away by Toxic.
The Scarskin has a lot of health and can output a lot of damage. Keep your distance from it's close range attacks when you can and remember to stay away from the Surge area of effect skill, as this can quietly reduce your health quite quickly.
Keep picking away at their health and healing from the small Perforo, and you should be able to make it through the fight.
- Clear the Rocks
Once the Scarskin is down, it should drop a decent amount of loot. Loot up, and then head through to the other side of the nest to clear the way forward.

- Retrieve an oil pump from the old Outriders' truck.
In front of you is a stunning display of what the Anomaly did to your original expedition 30 years ago. Head to the right to find a loot chest, then walk up the small ledge and grab the oil pump from the floating truck. Now head back down the hill and use the Return point to head back to camp.
- Search the Enclave for Channa.
After hearing about Jakub and Channa's history, you can do a couple of things in camp like sell your equipment. Then, head back through the Enclave as you did before. Head right at the monster statue again, and you will find Channa sitting on a ledge lit by torches.
- Rest in the hut provided for you.
Channa is still upset, so it's time to rest while the group goes to the ceremony without you. Head back towards the monster statue, and head to the small hut beside the wooden cage.
- Pursue Scurlock.
After a chilling discussion with Tiago, it's clear that Zahedi is in trouble and needs your help. Now that the truck is fixed, talk to Jakub to get after Zahedi and find out what's really going on in this camp.
