Arcade Mode
In addition to the traditional single-player story mode, Max Payne 3 is featuring a challenge-based Arcade Mode. This mode allows players to stack their scores up against others in Rockstar's community-centric Social Club.
The levels in Arcade Mode will unlock as you go through the main story mode. The levels you've beaten in story mode can then be replayed in Arcade Mode in order to set a new high numerical score and record time for that level, again and again.
Within Arcade Mode are two specialized sub-modes for you to test your old school gaming mettle:
XP Distribution
It's not just about stats, though. XP can be earned after a great run. XP awards are given to players based on performance in the completed level. The amount of XP is contingent upon the type of trophy awarded: Bronze, Silver, Gold, or Platinum.
Multiplayer Avatar Unlocks
There are unlockables associated with each level completed in either Arcade Modes (Score Attack Mode or New York Minute Mode). You will need to achieve Platinum in both the Arcade Modes to unlock and make available for use in Deathmatch Multiplayer modes.
