Walkthrough: Chapter 4
Part 1: Unfinished Business
Hulk's Objective: Hulk want orb. Leader have orb. Hulk get orb.
Hulk's returned to Alcatraz to take care of some unfinished business, including a necessary smackdown with some new gamma mutants created by the nefarious leader. This is a relatively straight-forward Hulk level. Bash and smash, baby!
From the start, head through the entrance. You'll find that the next door is blocked by an energy shield. Smash the power box on the left wall and continue. At the end of this room, bash in the wall with the windows. Leap down to the floor below and smash the fence. Hop on down to the next level from there.
Continue the normal process of smashing through doors to continue your progress. You'll soon come to a door blocked by an energy shield. The power box is above the door. Grab a projectile and target the box. Toss, destroy, continue onward. The next room features another door shield, but this power box is easily accessible on the right wall.
Now you're in a hairy situation -- a small room, filled with Hulk hounds. There are two power boxes to smash on either side of the room. Destroy and then kick the crap out of the dogs. At the end of the room, to the right, is a breakable wall. Break said wall and move on. Proceed as you would normally until you reach the helipad.
At the helicopter hangar, choppers will come from the hangar opening in the roof. Enemies will still be attacking, but your goal is to take out the chopper. It takes two hits to fell the chopper. Chuck items from the environment from anywhere in the arena for the first hit. The second hit, however, must be done while Hulk is standing on the closed hangar door. This way, when the hangar opens to let the next copter out, Hulk will fall down the hole into the room below.
Head through the open door and down the hallway. Drop off the ledge on the right. There are three power boxes that must be destroyed to drop the shield covering the entranceway. Two are on the left wall, one on the right wall. Destroy these, proceed to the end of the hall and bash the powerbox there to free passage to the next room.
Defeat every enemy in this room and the massive double doors will slide open. Four gun-toting gamma mutants storm the room. Kick their green butts or high-tail it through the doorway and to the next level, the choice is yours.
Part 2: Without Ethics
Hulk's Objective: Hulk not confused by level design. Hulk just run and smash!
This level at first glance may seem confusing. There are lots of branching pathways, something not seen in any of the previous Hulk levels. Don't you dare let that sweat pool on you brow like that, this level is quite simple. None of the branches can be accessed when you pass them, because they're blocked by energy shields. Follow the one open path and kick the crap out of anything in your way. 'Natch.
You'll eventually hit a room you can't get through, thanks to a shield barrier. Here you'll fight a handful of gamma monsters. Take them out and destroy the two big generators on the left side of the room to bring down the shield. Continue on in your Hulky fashion until you hit a small room with a giant core generator. Once this generator is in sight, turn around, because a hell of a lot of badness is coming at you. Hulk Dogs and gamma mutants aplenty!
That core generator has four sides. Each piece needs to be bashed inward until it can't go in no more (the light will turn red). Once all four sides are pushed in, the generator will shut down, allow you free passage into the next room.
Take that free passage. You'll now be doubling back through an area you already passed through. Fortunately, the friendly game designers have left some helpful green arrows. Do not stray from the arrows or you will be forever lost in this labyrinth! You'll soon see a doorway that hasn't been turned into "Hulk proportions." Make it Hulk-worthy now and head on through.
A tad further on, you'll get a cut-scene showing poor Hulk caught in the brunt of an explosion. Now down in the heart of a small canyon, you must climb back up, which will be no easy task. To the left you'll see a green arrow. That's your starting point for the climb. Jump up, but be ready for the many Hulk hounds and the automated rocket launchers. Yowch.
Hop up the platforms. When you find a spot where you can't jump, look for the stalagmite, bash it, and hop on up. Once at the top of the ledge, hang a right, head down the hallway, and watch the tragic cut-scene that ends this Hulk-riffic section.
Part 3: Resolve
Banner's Objective: I must find a way to access the teleporter so I can confront Ravage.
Aw crap, it's back to being Banner again. Thanks to a healthy dose of explosives, your Hulk abilities have been temporarily nullified. You'll need to sneak around this level and get to the teleporter (and subsequently change into the Hulk again).
Crouch to get under the obstruction and into the large open cavern. Oy, lots of sleeping Hulk hounds. Use crouch to sneak up to them. Once you reach the first of the pooches, look to your right. There are some movable crates. Use the action button to grab and then push forward to slide the crates out of your way. Once you let go of the crates, continue to crouch as you move past the resting Hulk doggies. At the end of your run (errr crouch), you'll hit another set of crates. Push them forward and sneak past the last of the pooches. Run over to the two generators and you'll automatically crawl through the hole in the wall.
Stay to the right and crawl under the fallen debris into the next room. Don't worry about the two guards. Wait a few seconds and the roof will collapse on them. It's like an angel from above is watching out for you. Thanks, angel! Continue down the path. Be careful when you see water fall down, it means that section of roof is about to give. Wait for it to fall, then move on.
You know that "escaped dog" the radio is always squawking about? It finally shows up in the next big room and eats one of the two guards. Sneak up behind the second guard and give him a silent night with the grab button. A couple rooms later, you'll hit some more sleeping Hulk dogs. Tiptoe past them, through the hall, and crouch under the debris to reach the generator.
Ah, yes. Hulk closed it off, now Banner must reopen the stupid thing. Walk over to each side and hit the action button to reopen the generator. Head through the newly opened door and take a left at the green arrows. Bruce will crawl under the hole on his own.
Crouch as you walk towards the final room. There's a frenzy of Hulk hounds actively jumping around. You need to avoid detection or you'll be puppy chow. If you wait at the entrance for a few moments the dogs will clear that general area. Crawl through and stay crouched to avoid being heard. If you can't avoid the Hulk dogs -- Run. Run fast (and use the jump button to roll). Get your ass into that transporter any way you can so that you can end the level and go all kinds of Hulk.
Part 4: One and All
Hulk's Objective: Ravage tricked weakling Banner. Now Hulk must punish Ravage and get orb. Hulk not worried... Hulk SMASH!!!
So close to the end, yet so far from being finished. Now that you're in control of the Hulk again, it's time to take your frustrations out on Ravage. Unlike the other bosses, there's no ultimate "hurt ya" device in the room. This is a straight out brawl. Ravage is a tough SOB, but he can be beat. Avoiding his attacks is the key, obviously, and striking after Ravage ha performed an attack (and is vulnerable) is your best shot. Smashing the ground will cause part of the roof to cave in. A good strategy is to knock Ravage down, then cause the roof to collapse before he can get up. Also, knocking down the roof will give you objects to pick up and bash Ravage with. Ravage has two life bars and knocking down the first won't be nearly as tough as getting down the second.
After getting Ravage's energy bar down the first time, he'll catch a glow and call in a couple of gamma enforcers. As the battle progresses, he'll continue to slowly call in pairs of gamma goons, so be ready. These guys offer the only health and rage power-ups on the level, but are also a pain in the ass with their damn gamma guns. Use objects as projectiles to knock them down, then run over to them and give them some hand-to-hand time before they can whip out their guns.
When Ravage is glowing, Hulk cannot successfully grab him, so don't even try, it'll only leave you open for greater abuse. The glowing Ravage is faster, stronger, and harder to hurt. Your best bet to use air attacks as much as possible, especially since Ravage takes some solid damage from the roof caving in and the big mean sticks of debris are excellent for Ravage baseball. This one is a tough, tough battle. Stick with it, because it may take quite a few attempts to pass.
