Warning: Full spoilers for the mission below.
Dr. Halsey storms up to Captain Lasky, angrily yelling about Cortana. While the two argue about her status as a threat, the UNSC Infinity's A.I, Roland, butts into the conversation. How can Cortana be alive? And why does her being alive become an issue? Why would Cortana trick Master Chief into abandoning his post?
The cutscene transitions into another, showing Buck and Locke preparing for their next mission. Buck is a little torn about the mission; how can they even take on the Master Chief? Locke packs armor restraints. He knows that Fireteam Osiris won't be liked much for hunting down the Chief, but he must follow orders.
Fireteam Osiris reaches Meridian. During their ride down the elevator, they see Forerunner ships engaging in combat with Meridian forces. Meridian Governor Sloan contacts the Spartans, but he isn't happy to hear about their arrival. Exit the elevator and prepare to help the residents of Meridian.?
After the operators open the door to the outside, immediately sprint toward the right and climb up the buildings to the turret controls. Continue sprinting and use RB to burst through the closed door. These turrets are incredibly helpful in this section. Once they're active, help kill the Forerunner soldiers.
After you've taken a few of them out, run to the Supplies building just across from the Security building that hosts the turret controls. Jump up to the Supplies building's roof and use the boosted jump to break through the roof. Inside is some grenades and a rocket launcher. Save this for when the Forerunner Knight spawns.
With the threat cleared from the base, Fireteam Osiris needs to head to Meridian Station. Jump into a Mongoose or Warthog and start driving toward the station.
Drive around and defeat the Forerunners. There are several extra Warthogs and other big weapons around the field if needed. Before Team Osiris can get across the bridge to the station, the Forerunners trying to take the bridge need to be destroyed. Blow them up, and Governor Sloan will allow the Spartans passage.?
The Forerunners are getting closer to civilian areas, and Governor Sloan requests that the Spartans help. Clear the Forerunners off the bridge, then work with the rest of your team to take them out in the next area. Before driving up the ramp, run into the garage to get a Scorpion - it'll make exploding the Forerunners on the ramp and the second level much easier.?
This skull can only be attained on Legendary difficulty. After getting into the Scorpion, proceed up the hill and watch out for the beam turrets. You go under a large rock arch way and follow the path to the right. As you move forward, you will see a friendly cargo ship appear in the sky in front of you, and then a Phaeton will begin the chase it and shoot at it. You must shoot down the Phaeton before it takes out the cargoship. You can do this using the Scorpion's main gun, or turret, or a combination of both in co-op. If successful, you will hear the Grunt Birthday Party sound, otherwise reload the last checkpoint. After taking down the Phaeton, the skull will spawn in 1 of 3 locations, either alongside the fence in the nearby area in between two yellow barrels, on top of the roof of the Scorpion bay underneath a yellow barrel, or under the small archway near the entrance of the area close to the bridge next to two metal boxes. Pick up the skull from one of these 3 locations to unlock it.
If you're in the Scorpion, the last section of this level should go smoothly. The Forerunners are attacking the gate to Meridian Station, and Governor Sloan requests that the Spartans help stop the attack. The Forerunners spawn in waves, and mainly in the middle. If you're in the Scorpion, don't hang out by the gate - it's difficult to maneuver and a lot of Forerunners spawn in that area. You'll also probably take a lot of friendly fire if the Forerunners get too close.?
There are plenty of heavy weapons, including the Spartan Laser, Hydra Launcher, Sniper, and Rocket Launcher at the stations to the left and right of the gate. Defeat the enemies, then approach the gate to start the next mission.
