BF Surfer
The BF Surfer?is a 1950's/1960's style passenger van based on the iconic Volkswagen Type 2 Combi, more commonly known as the Microbus. It is similar to the Camper which appeared in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. It is available as a "clean" regular van and as a "beater" variant with rusted chrome, faded paint and general imperfections. The "clean" Surfer sits lower on its suspension than the "beater" variant does, and the stock wheels are different between the two variants.
Both versions of the Surfer can be modded at Los Santos Customs and Beeker's Garage. As with all "beater" variants of any vehicle, respraying will not eliminate rust and blemishes, or make the paint glossy.
The "beater" Surfer never weems to spawn with a roof rack, but the "clean" Surfer will sometimes have one. The roof rack used on the Surfer is the exact same "long" rack used on the Dundreary Regina station wagon.
The large round front turn signals on the "beater" Surfer are clear, while they are amber on the "clean" Surfer.
One of the slowest and most underpowered vehicles in the game, (much like the original real-world VW Bus), on par with the Faggio and rusty farm Tractor. The speedometer is probably a sun dial. Climbing hills or driving off-road are exercises in frustration.
Graphically, the roof height on all Surfers appears to have been cut down or "chopped" from what would have been a higher stock roof line, leading to a cramped interior. When driving a Surfer and approaching any prostitute, all Story Mode characters will say something along the lines of "Sorry babe, but there isn't enough room in here." Prostitutes cannot be picked up with a Surfer, probably because their "straddling" animation would cause them to clip through the low roof.
The large side doors seem to be unusable, but it is possible to knock them off the vehicle.
