Elemental Weapons
Leviathan Axe
The Leviathan Axe is a new addition to the Nordic era of God of War, and becomes Kratos' main offensive weapon in the game. This powerful weapon is enchanted with the power of ice, and can be summoned from any distance.
In combat, these unique abilities allow you to stun and freeze enemies and throw the axe at opponents and obstacles. It's the slowest and most deliberate weapon in the game, but has the highest damage per hit.
What's new in God of War Ragnarok is that each weapon will have a Weapon Signature Move, allowing players to infuse a weapon with their elemental power. For the Leviathan Axe, this is Frost Awaken, enabled by holding the Triangle button.?

Blades of Chaos
The Blades of Chaos are a staple of the God of War franchise and a constant reminder of Kratos' past. These powerful blades are bound to his wrists and can deal a massive amount of damage to hordes of enemies in a matter of seconds.?They deal less damage than the Leviathan Axe, but are faster and are likely to hit nearby enemies in the process of hitting your actual target.
You'll also be able to use the blades as a grappling hook to traverse through different structures in the game or to attack enemies from afar.
In God of War Ragnarok, you can infuse the fire elemental power to the Blades of Chaos using this Weapon's Signature Move, Whiplash, by mashing the Triangle button.

Draupnir Spear
The Draupnir Spear is a new weapon added to Kratos' arsenal during the Path Quest "Forging Destiny." In this quest, Kratos, Freya, and Brok visit the Lady of the Forge in Svartalheim. The Lady crafts the Spear for Kratos, which unlocks new abilities and skills. The Spear is contained in a ring that Kratos wears, and when in use can do a great amount of range and melee damage. It can also self-replicate, meaning you can throw multiple spears at your targets.
You'll also be able to use the Spear to access areas you haven't been able to get to before. There are marks in stones that, when you throw the spear at it, create a step you can climb. The Spear can also destroy rocks and obstacles. When multiple spears are thrown at a target, press (Triangle), and the spears will detonate, destroying the rocks and clearing a path.
Draupnir is unique in that its Triangle move doesn't make the weapon more powerful for a short time. Instead, when you throw Spears they'll be embedded into whatever they hit. You can then press Triangle to detonate them all!

Shields
Guardian Shield?
The Guardian Shield is Kratos' starting Shield, however after fights against both Thor and The Huntress, it breaks and is set aside for repairs. Kratos can use it again when he starts "The Word of Fate" Path Quest later in the game.
The Guardian Shield is considered to be a good all-round Shield, designed for Parries and counterattacks, although it's the only shield to not boost a stat other than DEFENSE. Its Perk is the Shield Check:
- Double Tap L1 to quickly Shield Check an enemy and break their guard. This is especially useful against Shielded enemies, as it will break the shield!
- Second, Parry (Press L1 right before getting hit) and then immediately press R1 or R2 to do special counterattacks:
- R1: Kratos will bash the attacker with the edge of the shield.
- R2: Kratos will slam the ground with his shield, knocking the attacker to the ground.
- If a ranged attack was parried, than either button will fire a projectile back at the attacker.

Dauntless Shield
The Dauntless Shield is one of two Shield options Kratos gets to pick from once he enters at Sindri's House for the first time. If you choose it over the Stone Wall Shield, it will be free!
Being a Shield, this will of course improve Kratos' DEFENSE, but upgrading it to Level 3 will improve COOLDOWN as well. It's designed for the aggressive defender who prefers to Parry over blocking outright, as expressed with its two Shield Bash Perks:
- First, Parrying an attack (Press L1 right before getting hit) will deal Stun damage to the attacker and empower your next Shield Bash. Time the Parry perfectly to significantly improve this effect.
- Second, Shield Bashes (Double Tap L1) will deal high Stun Damage. If you empowered the shield with a Parry, the Shield Bash will also deal regular damage and throw enemies back!

Stone Wall Shield
The Stone Wall Shield is one of two Shield options Kratos gets to pick from once he enters at Sindri's House for the first time. If you choose it over the Dauntless Shield, it will be free!
Being a Shield, this will improve Kratos' DEFENSE, but once upgraded to Level 3, it will also improve his VITALITY. It's primarily designed for the player who prefers to turtle up in the face of high opposition. This is expressed with its two Shield Slam Perks:
- First, attacks on the Shield will power it up. You can then Double Tap L1 to Shield Slam. This will launch enemies into the air when fully changed, which is done by absorbing three hits.
- Second, the Stone Wall Shield is the only shield in the game that can Block the yellow ring Guard-break enemy attacks (although it cannot do this when fully charged).

Shatter Star Shield
The Shatter Star Shield can be found in a Legendary Chest in Vanaheim, and is perfect for staying mobile and charging it. It increases both DEFENSE and RUNIC, and is the most aggressive shield, thanks to its Shield Punch perk:
- First, hold L1 to charge up the shield by up to three tiers. If the Shield blocks an attack, all charge is lost.
- Second, Double Tap L1 to Shield Punch and blow enemies backwards. The higher the charge, the more powerful the punch!
- Third, If you use the Shield Punch right before an attack lands, the Shield will be partially charge for another go-around.

The Onslaught Shield is found in a Legendary Chest in Helheim, and is perfect for taking hits head-on. It boosts DEFENSE and LUCK. This is another aggressive shield, thanks to its Shield Rush perk:
- First, Double Tap L1 to Shield Rush forward into enemies.
- Second, the Shield Rush will absorb all incoming attacks as Kratos runs.
- Third, once Kratos runs into an enemy, he'll Shield Check them like with the Guardian Shield.
- Fourth, if Kratos runs far enough, the shield will charge up, and the enemy he runs into will be launched backwards.

Spartan Apsis
The Spartan Apsis is a Shield that is found exclusively in the New Game Plus Mode, and can be acquired as soon as you gain access to Dwarven Shops (although notably it starts at Power Level 6, not 9.1). It is functionally identical to the Guardian Shield, but with a twist:
- The Parry window is much smaller than that of the Guardian Shield, but in exchange it has stronger special counterattacks.
- If you find the Parry window too small, consider using the Rond of Deflection, which increases the size of Parry Windows.

Bows
During battles, Kratos can get assistance from Atreus, who will use his Bows to Stun, damage or distract enemies. And of course Atreus himself will also use his Bows extensively in his own gameplay sections. This means that their Perks will also be beneficial for when you're playing as Kratos!
Talon Bow
The Talon Bow is the very first Bow that Atreus can use, and is the same one he used in the previous game. This Bow's Perk is Hunter's Insight, which increases Stun from Melee Attacks and bow shots. This makes it very useful to build up Stun and then use a lethal Stun Grab to kill the target worry-free.

Swords
In addition to Atreus' assistance in battles, Kratos will also have Freya's aid in the later game. Freya has strong melee and ranged attacks, but her swords, Thrungva and Mardoll, provide additional melee damage.
Thrungva
Thrungva is Freya's starting sword that focuses on dealing Stun damage, making it easier to kill enemies with Stun Grabs.
