Amulet of Yggdrasil - Jewel Locations and List of Enchantments
The Amulet of Yggdrasil is a special item you will obtain during the story of God of War Ragnarok, and is an entirely new feature in the series. With the amulet, you will be able to equip a variety of different enchantments to further bolster your abilities in battle. This page contains an overview of the Amulet, how to get more sockets from Jewel of Yggdrasil Locations, and a list of Enchantments and where to find them - including a list of the best ones to use.
How to Use the Amulet of Yggdrasil
The special item known as the Amulet of Yggdrasil can be found partway through the story, as a reward for beating the main boss of Chapter 6 - The Reckoning. After defeating them, you'll automatically pick up this reward, which can be viewed as part of your Armor.
The amulet itself provides no bonuses, but through the empty slots, you can equip up to nine Enchantments you find elsewhere in your travel to increase each of your stats. You'll initially start with only two slots available, but you can find Jewels of Yggdrasil to unlock the other seven.
There are many different types of Enchantments you can find, some serving particular purposes, and others all-encompassing in their use. As you progress further into the game and unlock more slots, you'll be able to customize your bonuses even more, swap them out to deal with specific threats or bosses, and compliment your current gear or skills.
List of Enchantments
Here you will find a list of the different Enchantments you can find and equip as you progress through the story, undertake side quests, and defeat optional bosses. There are six categories of Enchantments:
- Realm Enchantments - These Enchantments normally focus only on improving Kratos' stats. But if you socket at least three of them, you'll unlock a Set Bonus Perk that will be increased based on one of Kratos' stats. There are five Enchantments for each of the nine realms.
- Perk Enchantments - These don't give a stat bonus, and instead provide a Perk, similar to the rest of Kratos' gear. Many of these Perks won't activate until Kratos meets a minimum Stat value, making them useless otherwise.
- Badge Enchantments - These New Game Plus-exclusive items replicate the Perks provided by the Shield Ronds from a standard playthrough. You buy them using Gilded Coins, which are awarded for upgrading a piece of gear to Power Level 9.1.
- Engraving Enchantments - These New Game Plus-exclusive items are the same as Badge Enchantments, only they're based on Chest Armor Perks. These also require Kratos to meet a minimum Stat value before they'll activate, similar to Perk Enchantments.
- Burden Enchantments - Exclusive to New Game Plus, these will inflict a negative buff on Kratos, making combat even more difficult.
- Berserker Enchantments - Similar to Realm Enchantments, these New Game Plus-exclusive Enchantments focus purely on improving Kratos' stats. Unlike Ream Enchantments, they do not have Set Bonus Perks.

Jewel of Yggdrasil Locations
Below you will find a list of every Jewel of Yggdrasil location needed to fully upgrade your Amulet. Once a Jewel has been found, you need only return to the Dwarven Shop to upgrade the Amulet and create more sockets for your Enchantments.
Vanaheim - Noatun’s Garden
This Legendary Chest is found in Noatun’s Garden, specifically the ruins on the Northern river shore. The door is effectively locked, as its counterweight’s target is pinned under Red Fungi Bramble, meaning you cannot break it until the bramble is burned away.
To do this, you’ll need to get to the right spot so you can light the Fungi Brample. Hop into the boat and row through the roots of the giant tree to the West: take a right and you’ll find a beach to dock in.
Head up the stairs and all the way to the end of the stone bridge where the Coffin is. Here you’ll see the Red Fungi Bramble to the right along the wall: make a chain of Sigil Arrow Hexes so that you can light one with the Blades of Chaos’ Blazing Surge.
Once it’s been burned away, you can then cut the target by throwing your Axe at it through the hole in the ruins.
Return to the other side of the bridge and use the rope to quickly zip back to Noatun’s Garden.
Enter the ruins through the open door, defeat the Nightmares that show up, then open up the chest for your reward!
Alfheim - The Forbidden Sands
This scroll is in the Light Elf ruins in the North-East corner of The Forbidden Sands, where The Elven Sanctum Favor takes place.
It’ll be in the main library room that you first arrive in: turn around to face the entryway, then climb up one of the side ledges and make your way to the back. The Legendary Chest will be here.
Midgard - Well of Urd
Another story upgrade can be found during Chapter 9 - Word of Fate, as you venture back into Midgard and explore the mysterious Well of Urd. During this journey you'll face off against a boss known as the Frost Phantom, and must stun it before destroying its Runic Springs. Do so, and you'll not only get a Frozen Flame, but a Jewel of Yggdrasil to boot! If you're having trouble, check out our guide.
Midagrd - The Oarsmen
This Legendary Chest is found at the end of the path in The Oarsman. After pulling the chain to move the boat, head down the staircase, and it’ll be visible on the right-hand wall.
Svartalfheim - The Forge
This Jewel can be found as part of the main story, and cannot be missed (it will appear in the blue chest at the Dwarven Shop if you miss picking it up).
Soon after learning how to use your new equipment to climb and swing across gaps or ledges, you'll encounter two Fierce Ogres and several Grim including Cursed and Heavy Grims. After defeating the Ogres, collect the items they drop upon death and amongst the plethora of loot, you'll find the Jewel of Yggdrasil.
Svartalfheim - Alberich Island
This Legendary Chest is found on Alberich Island, however you cannot get to it until you complete the Forging Destiny main quest and pick up a new piece of equipment.
Once you’ve done this, return to Alberich Island’s main beach, then look for the Wind Vent on the right-hand wall: use your new equipment on it, then climb up the wall to the top.
Here, head right up the wooden ramp to the top of an elevator, but the lift is down at the bottom. To raise it, fire a Sonic Arrow at the Soundstone rock on your left, then head through and right down the wooden ramp.
At the bottom, look right towards the elevator, and you can see a rock with a Wind Fissure on it: throw a Draupnir Spear at it and then detonate it, allowing the geyser to flow and raise the lift.
Head on over to it and use the grapple point to make it onto a wooden platform.
Now that you’re on the platform, you need to get up to the top of the island via another geyser-powered lift. Freezing it will lower the lift, but the geyser is protected by a metal barrier you have to lower. To start towards fixing this, face the island, then use the grapple point on your left.
Once you’re over there, vault up the ledge, then turn around. You’ll be able to see a large rock with a Wind Fissure on it: throw a Draupnir Spear into it, then blow it up to destroy the rock.
From here, head around the corner to find a chain crank: use it to lower the barrier around the geyser. Next, look for a yellow gear on your right (if you can’t see it, you didn’t destroy the rock!). Place a Hex Bubble on the yellow gear, then throw the Leviathan Axe at it to freeze it: the Hex Bubble will retain the freeze for several seconds once the axe is removed, so you’re safe to leave and continue.
With that in place, return to the wooden platform and go to the left side, where you can see the exposed geyser. Aim at the base of the geyser, then quickly recall the Axe and throw it at the geyser before the Hex Bubble expires. This will lower the lift, allowing you to grapple over to it!
Once you’re on the lift, recall the Axe and the lift will automatically raise back up again. At the top, you’ll have to defeat several Cursed Wretches before you can move on.
Once the Wretches are dead, face West and look for the grapple point on the opposite wall, below the wooden building. Use it to get to the top of the island, and the Chest will be directly ahead!
Vanaheim - The Jungle
This Legendary Chest has two requirements before you can reach it. First, you must complete the Return of the River Favor, which allows you to explore the South-Eastern half of the area via boat. Second, you need to find the Celestial Altar in that area and change the time to day.
Once you’ve done that, head to the dock in the North-Eastern corner of The Jungle that lets you slip through to the area where you fight the Ogres. Directly across from the entry point are vines with two grapple points: one to pull down a blocking wall, and another to get across the gap back to the North-Western side of The Jungle.
Once you’re across, head down the path, where you’ll have to make your way around a chasm via a long U-Turn whilst dodging spitter vine plants. When you jump across the chasm for the first time, make sure to kick down the gold chain! You should also try and destroy the vine plants by destroying the central bulb: locate a Scorn Plant, freeze it with the Leviathan Axe, then look for the bulb in the chasm and destroy it with a Hex Bubble and Blazing Surge.
When you jump across the chasm a second time, keep an eye out on your right for a stone wall: you’ll be able to slip through here to get to a Drake’s lair.
In the middle of the lair is a circular Vanir-made pit. Drop down it to wind up in the bottom of a cage.
To get out, turn around to spot a wooden spinner: hit the left-hand side with the Leviathan Axe to turn it and raise the cage momentarily.
Once you’re out, the Legendary Chest will be in the corridor leading to the exit gate.
