Grand Companies
To prepare their citizens for catastrophe, the three city-states of Eorzea: Ul'dah, Limsa Lominsa, and Gridania put aside their differences to create the Grand Companies of each nation. Grand Companies bring together the military, economic, and technological resources of each city-state to help ensure the survival of the realm. Once your character reaches a certain point in the story, around level 20, they will be able to align themselves with a nation and join one of the three Grand Companies.

Lore
For thousands of years, Eorzea has been victim to a catastrophic cycle of destruction and rebirth that periodically envelops the realm and threatens all who live upon her soil; each time faced with a tragedy seemingly worse than the last, however, the peoples of Eorzea have found some way to persevere. One method, seemingly going back hundreds of generations, has been the establishment of comprehensive command centers which combine the military, economic and technological resources of a city-state in order to better prepare it for the coming doom. These are the Grand Companies of Eorzea.
The last recorded of emergence of the Grand Companies was nearly 1,500 years ago, at the end of the Fifth Astral Era and the arrival of the great deluge which triggered the dark period known as the Sixth Umbral Era. It was through these companies that the then warring city-states were able to put aside their bitter differences and join together to form an alliance and ensure the realm survived.
With the recent attacks by the Garlean Empire seen as an imminent threat to the realm, there have been scattered talks of restoring the Grand Companies to their former glory, but conflicting agendas on all sides have slowed progress. That is, until the appearance of an adventurer who set in motion the wheels of hope.

The Immortal Flames
| The Immortal Flames of Ul'dah are lead by Flame General Raubahn Aldynn. Their strength comes from their army of mercenaries called the Sultansworn. |
The Maelstrom
| The Maelstrom of Limsa Lominsa is led by a former pirate named Merlwyb Bloefhiswyn. It's an extension of the Limsa Lominsan Navy, and is used to command all ships who sail near Lominsan waters. |
The Order of the Twin Adder
| The Order of the Twin Adder of Gridania is led by Kan-E-Senna. They use their abilities to oversee the safety of Gridanian citizens and the local guards. |
Grand Company Seals
Grand Company Seals are the currency of Grand Companies. You can use seals to increase in Grand Company Rank, and to purchase weapons, armor, key items, medicines, Chocobo Insurance, and more.
To earn Grand Company Seals, players can complete Grand Company Guildleves, earn them from FATEs, complete Grand Company hunting objectives, and exchange them for items that are needed by the Grand Company for the week.
Grand Company Ranks
For participating in Grand Company events, you will be rewarded with Grand Company Seals. As you earn more Grand Company Seals, you'll increase in Grand Company Rank. When you visit your Grand Company Quartermaster in any major city, he will sell things based on your character's Grand Company Rank. As you increase in rank, you'll be able to undertake more duties and purchase more powerful gear and rare items.
