Some of the fondest memories I have of my father involve every time we went to Chuck E. Cheese's. Back then, we still lived together in Puerto Rico and the Chuck E. Cheese's there was nearly three stories tall and with video games on all floors. My father and I would plop quarters in left and right and he would teach me how to play the games.
Eventually, the Nintendo Game System came out in the '80s and we, of course, bought it. Super Mario was fun and all but I guess I could say I was hooked with Metroid, a side-scrolling sci-fi adventure from Nintendo. As time went on I was not able to find many games that could compete with Metroid's story and gameplay -- until one day I bought Final Fantasy as a lark. I was instantly hooked.
It is, as a long time player and gamer, a great honor and privilege to be able to write the guide for the last installment in the ongoing Final Fantasy saga. Now we have Final Fantasy IX - the last PlayStation installment of this great series. From now on, whatever comes next, will be on the new technological gaming frontiers that Sega, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft and perhaps even a couple of smaller Linux game systems are forging.
