New Features and Differences
Those expecting FIFA 18 to reinvent the wheel may be disappointed. However, there are many quality of life improvements that help make the game feel like an improvement over last years’ installment.
Quick Subs
New to FIFA, you can now enable quick subs in Team Management before a game. Then, during a break in play, you can use the right trigger to open the quick sub suggestions then accept the options you pre-selected.
More Crossing Options
Now, you can modify crosses in a number of different ways Use the bumpers to modify your crosses, while taking advantage of double and triple taps introduced in previous installments in the franchise.
Hard Tackle
In addition to the slide tackle, players can now use Triangle/Y to use a Hard Tackle. This maneuver launches your player into a tackle attempt, no matter the circumstances. This supersedes the natural inhibitions the game places on tackling next to players.
Improvement to Jogging/Slow Dribbling?
The transitions for Jogging and slow dribbling are way more fluid. Using proficient dribblers now makes a difference when bursting into a sprint while maintaining ball control.
Visual Upgrades
As with every new year of FIFA, most of the visuals have been improved. Facial features, stadium presence, and player movement have seen increased performance across the board. The most significant improvement comes from a newly introduced motion technology. Now, instead of player animations trigged by steps, they are triggered every frame of motion. This leads to a much smoother visual experience during play. FIFA 18 new visual and technical features:
Transfer Cutscenes
Now, when entering Career mode transfers, cutscenes play out the negotiations of trading and buying players.
New FIFA Ultimate Team Modes
Several new experiences have been added to FUT. Now, players can partake in squad battles, pitting their team against any number of community-composed squads from around the world for great rewards. Additionally, a new Champions channel and additional objectives have been added with the promise of more FIFA coins and card pack rewards.
