How to Get Wings of Ruin
The newest expansion in Final Fantasy XIV, Dawntrail, has released. In addition to new story, dungeons and other challenges, there are new mounts to acquire. One such mount is the Wings of Ruin, which grants the player a pair of wings with which to fly around. This guide has all the information about where to find these wings, including how to unlock the required activity. Image Credit: @terrae_nox on X
How to Get the Wings of Ruin
In order to earn the Wings of Ruin you need to complete EX1, Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme). This tough challenge requires you to join seven other players to take on a tougher version of the first Trial in Dawntrail. If you're unable to organize a group outside of the game, you can check the Party Finder feature in the Party menu for other people trying to complete the Extreme Trial.
If your group is able to defeat the trial, you'll receive a chest at the end which may contain the Wings of Ruin. Unfortunately, unless you've organized it beforehand, you still need to roll on the item and hope you get the highest roll! If you win the wings, great! Just use the item in your inventory to add the mount to your collection. If the wings aren't in the chest, or if someone else wins them, you'll just have to beat it again for another chance.
If you're having horrible luck with drops and rolls, there is an extremely time-consuming alternative.
Each time you beat the trial you'll receive a Skyruin Totem, and with 99 of these, you'll eventually be able to purchase the mount from a vendor in Solution Nine named Uah'shepya.
This obviously isn't ideal, but in the worst case scenario you'll still be able to earn the mount eventually.
How to Unlock EX1 - Worqor Lar Dor (Extreme)
In order to unlock the Extreme Trials you first need to beat Dawntrail. Once you've completed the final quest, you'll be left in Tuliyollal in front of the For'ard Cabins. Down the road you can find the Wandering Minstrel - at (X:11.1 Y:14.6) - and speak to him to unlock at least the first two Extreme Trials.
