How to Farm Ttokrrone Scales
With the release of Final Fantasy XIV’s latest expansion, Dawntrail, comes a load of new content. In addition to new dungeons, quests, and zones, there are also a pair of elusive FATE bosses, which can be defeated for special materials. One of these materials is Ttokrrone Scales, which can be farmed for one of the cutest new mounts in the game. This guide has all the information you need about these rare materials, including where to spend them and what you can buy with them.
How to Get Ttokrrone Scales
Ttokrrone Scales are a drop from a massive snake creature named Ttokrrone. This beast only spawns once every couple of days, with at least one day between his previous death (or the most recent maintenance period) and his next spawn. Additionally, players will need to complete a series of FATEs in the fourth region added with Dawntrail, Shaaloani.
The FATEs and their coordinates are, in order:
- The Serpentlord Stirs (X:23.6 Y:32.0)
- The Serpentlord Speaks (X:29.0 Y:17.5)
- The Serpentlord Sires (X:21.0 Y:8.3)
- The Serpentlord Suffers (Same as Previous FATE)
Once these four are complete, there is a chance a fifth FATE, The Serpentlord Seethes, will spawn at the north end of the map at X:22.4, Y:5.1.
If it's going to spawn, it can be within a few minutes of completing The Serpentlord Suffers, but it's not guaranteed to spawn so soon after. It should be noted that you need to have flying unlocked in the region in order to reach Ttokrrone’s arena, or you’ll need a party member to ferry you to it in a multi-person mount.
Depending on your contribution to the fight, you’ll receive 2, 4 or 6 Ttokrrone Scales. If you’re in a party your cumulative contributions affect your rank, so it’s advised you join one of the parties recruiting for the fight.
How to Farm Ttokrrone Scales
Your performance dictates how many times you’ll need to repeat this FATE, with a worst case scenario requiring 6 completions! Regardless of how well you do, you’ll need to defeat Ttokrrone at least twice, so it’s good to keep an eye out for people completing the prerequisite FATEs.
As mentioned previously, once Ttokrrone is defeated it’ll be at least 24 hours before he even has a chance to respawn. Luckily there are a few websites or services that can help you track the creature’s last death or even notify you when the FATE spawns, but outside of those options you’ll need to patrol Shaaloani vigilantly.
What Can You Buy with Ttokrrone Scales?
Naturally, once you have your scales you’ll want to spend them. You can do so in Solution Nine, at the Nexus Arcade on the west side of the city.
Head to the merchant named Uah’shepya, under the Sublime Curiosities section, to spend 12 Ttokrrone Scales for a Mehwapyarra Whistle.
Using the whistle will add the Mehwapyarra - Tural's version of a capybara - to your collection.
