Treasure Chests are littered throughout Thedas and the Fade in Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Containing upgrade materials, equipment, and gold, collecting Treasure Chests is an efficient way to level up your character without spending all your money at shops.

Some treasure chests don't appear on the map, even if you've explored the area they're in. This is because they're blocked by a barrier, found in a secret passage, or appear after completing certain requirements. You'll want to revisit the regions multiple times as you progress through the game.

Treasure chests can also be trapped. Pay attention to the left side of the chest as you go to open it. If there's a green gas coming out, move away after you interact with it. You'll hear ticking counting down how long you have to clear the area. Staying near the Treasure Chest will cause Necrosis upon opening.

Shoreside Ruins Floating Treasure Chest

You can grab this treasure chest during Harding's companion quest An Unfamiliar Sense. When you're at the Beacon, go back towards the path and have Harding drop the rock to the left. Climb over and into the next section.

The chest is found at the top of a floating piece of ruin. Use Harding’s ability and climb to reach it, jumping to the final platform.

Shoreside Ruins Treasure Chest

This is another treasure chest you can get during Harding's quest, or you can return for it later. To the left of the Shoreside Ruins Beacon is a branch that you can use to cross to the remaining area.

There you'll find a small room with a barrier across it, preventing you from getting the treasure chest. Go to the back of the ruin, where you can use Bellara's ability to disable the barrier.

Tattered Bridge Treasure Chest

To reach the treasure chest past the barred entrance on the Tattered Bridge, take the zip line to the ground. Go up the ladder at the end of the passage that goes to the right from your landing spot. At the top go towards the bridge to the left. Remove the power crystal to bring down the barrier.

Slot the power crystal into the node on the left. At the top of the ramp, move the laser so it points towards the device to the right of where it currently points. This activates the other laser.

Go back to the main passage and put the crystal on the right node. Climb up the ramp and point the laser at the node in front of it, which forms a bridge to the chest.

Shadowy Grove Treasure Chest

When you enter the Shadowy Grove from inside some ruins, head to your left to find this treasure chest.

Shadowy Grove Statue Puzzle Treasure Chest

This is the trickiest of the treasure chests to find. You may have seen the various statues around the Shadowy Grove area of Arlathan Forest, as well as the glowing dragon and wolf statues. If you try to interact with these, however, nothing happens.

To get the statues moving and solve the Shadowy Grove statue puzzle, you need to read the note at the small camp first. The note isn't there originally, you'll need to revisit the grove later in the game to find it. This activates the various statues to rotate. Before completing this puzzle, it should be noted that it does summon a level 45 Bursting Rage Demon before giving up the chest, so you'll want to be prepared.

There are six god statues to move around the Shadowy Grove. You want to have five of them facing towards the glowing wolf statue. You'll know they're in the right position when the gem at the base of the statue glows. There is a statue on the ledge of the Shadowy Grove opposite the chest you find in this area, in case you're wondering there the last one is and completely overlook it like I did.

The statue next to the camp (to the left if you're facing the front of it), needs to face the glowing dragon statue.

When the last statue gets moved to the correct position, the rage demon will appear from the dragon statue. It has armor, but no barrier, and is the only demon that's summoned. Upon defeat you're rewarded:

Jagged Ruins Treasure Chest

You'll end up in the Jagged Ruins area during the side quest Magic of the Ancients. Complete the puzzle to gain access to the treasure chest at the top of the ruins.

Riverside Ruins Treasure Chest

This treasure chest is on a piece of ruin behind a barrier. To get the power crystal, head to the opposite side of the ruin from the barrier and smash the wooden containers. The power crystal is hidden amongst them. Take the crystal and put it on the node, disabling the further barrier.

Now there's a barrier close to you. Go to the left of the arch and cross to the path on a piece of downed building. Go over the small waterway to the other ruin to reach the treasure chest.

Ancient Aqueduct Upper Treasure Chest

To get to this chest, you'll need to trigger a Fade Tear. The explosion will knock the wall out, allowing you access to the treasure chest.

Ancient Aqueduct Treasure Chest

This treasure chest requires you to move around some of the power crystals on the Tattered Bridge. Power the laser and aim it at a node near the chest. This forms a bridge for you to walk over. Hit the exploding barrels in front of the wall to unveil the path.

Ancient Aqueduct Ledge Treasure Chest

Once this area becomes accessible, you'll find the chest on a ledge along the river with a statue base to its left. It may not look like you can reach it, but it's within jump distance.

Waterfront Glades Treasure Chest

You'll have to wait until you get Davrin's companion quest How to Train a Griffin to access this area of the map. You'll go into the Waterfront Glades, which is where your truffle hunting takes you. This is the first region Treasure Chest you can come across in the Crossroads. When looking for the champion in Into The Crossroads, run left before heading up a series of ledges. The chest is at the end of the path.

This chest and the next two are located in relatively the same area. When you go to fight the Venatori under a large mechanism, these chests are found around the square.

Lighthouse Treasure Chests Locations

Two Treasure Chests are found in the Lighthouse.

Lighthouse Treasure Chest 1

Once you have access to the Music Room, you’ll need to wait until all the companions join you. Then, the Caretaker will note that new helpers have shown up. These helpers are Wisps, which are needed to access the upper section of the library.

The first Wisp is found outside the Lighthouse. When you exit, head immediately to the left and take the stairs to the second level. The Wisp is waiting at the top between the statues of Solas and Mythal. Since you have a bit of a way to go with this one, running is the best way to not run out of time and have the Wisp bounce back to its original location.

Run to the music room and have the Wisp inhabit the first altar. The second Wisp is waiting for you in the room. Place it in the right altar. This will activate the door, causing it to open.

Head into the warp tunnel, which takes you upstairs. Go to the pathway to the right, where you’ll find a broken astrolabe. Use Bellara’s ability to fix the device, causing the library to become complete. This discounts all upgrades at the Caretaker’s Workshop.

Another waiting period commences. Again, the Caretaker will note when a helper has arrived. This one is found hanging out near the astrolabe, and is needed for the altar in front of the closed door on the second level of the library.

Activating the door reveals another warp tunnel. This tunnel brings you to the highest part of the Lighthouse, the Watchtower, which contains the first treasure chest. Opening the chest rewards you with a weapon, as well as a valuable item and gold. There’s also a Codex entry to the right of the chest.

Lighthouse Treasure Chest 2

To obtain the second treasure chest found in the Lighthouse, you need to activate the laser found at the Watchtower. The power crystal is next to the node, making it easy to power up. Then, you need to charge each of the crystals found at the tops of three buildings around the lighthouse.

When charged, a Wisp will flow down into the lighthouse and activate the last remaining closed door in the library. The first tower is directly in front of the Watchtower, one is off to the right, and the last is off to the left. They can be activated in any order.

Go through the warp tunnels until you’re in the Music Room. Head out into the main area of the library and you’ll see the opposite door is lit up. Getting close to it will cause it to open, bringing you to a small storage area and another warp tunnel.

Head into the tunnel to be teleported to Solas’ den. Inside, you’ll find a Codex entry, materials, a smaller chest, and the treasure chest.

This chest is found when looking for a route into Andraste's Temple complex. Hop through a broken window into the room. The chest is in the corner.

Vacant Path Treasure Chest

When on the main level of the Warrens, head past the animal crates to the edge of area. There's a ladder leading down. Take it and go to the left, where a room is blocked by a barrier. Have Lucanis and Spite create a platform for you to jump to the opposite ledge.

Wait until the platform is gone. Now you can target the freeze lock that controls the barrier with Neve's ability. use Lucanis' ability to get back over to the now unlocked room.

Smuggler's Docks Treasure Chest

On the ground level, you'll find this chest before you encounter Venatori enemies. This is the last chest you'll be able to find during The Smuggled Relic Case. It's right at the landing point after you slide down a roof.

There are 13 Treasure Chests to locate in Treviso.

Heart and Central Treasure Chest

This is the first chest in Treviso you'll come across, but it's easily overlooked. The chest is in the barred room to the left of the trellis you climb to reach the Cantori Diamond. Between the two is a statue, which blocks you from trying to jump into the room. However, there's a small ledge you can use to shuffle across. Hop into the room for the chest, then use the lever to raise the gate and get out.

This chest is available during the Statuary, Fine Art, and Antaam side quest. When you finally get to talk to the gallery owner, interact with the back wall to reveal the hidden chest.

Grande Markets Treasure Chest

During Bloodbath you'll gain access to this building and the chest. If you miss it, however, this is how to reach it.

Go to the Cafe Pietra square off the market. As you enter, to the right is a climable crate. Climb it, then go through the vines to enter a storage area. Take the stairs to the left.

In the next room, take an immediate left and smash through the barrels and crates to get on the balcony. Go up the stairs to another room and continue through that to get to the room with the chest.

This location is right before the castle begins. There are two rooms on either side with Grey Warden statues. To get into the left room, you need to match the statues directions to what's shown by the mini statues on the left side of the area. These mini statues are near the floor to right of the left room.

This chest is hidden by a wooden door. You can't get it until Taash is a full member of the Veilguard, as you need her ability.

Throughout Clifftops there are three braziers that you need to light. The order is signified by the number of skeletons next to it. Light the three of them for the door to disappear, allowing you to get the chest.

Climb up the ledge near the platform. Then jump to wooden the wooden platforms, using Lucanis' ability to bridge the gaps. When you land, go directly to the left to find the small cave with a chest and Evanuris Altar.

Climb partway up the middle rock section in Clifftops. This is the same rock you climb to get to the Fen'Harel Altar. The chest is off to the left side, closer to the bottom.

Defeat the Antaam in the square, then drop the ladder near the entrance to the castle. Climb to the second floor, then cross the wood beam to the right. Ravine Descent Treasure Chest

When you get through most of Taash's storyline, you'll be able to access the other half of the Rivain Coast. This starts in The Lair of the Dragon King.

Go down the ladders and staircase from the Beacon in front of the Warden Castle. At the bottom you'll need to defeat a group of Antaam. The chest is on the opposite side you come down from.

This treasure chest is right outside the final area, the Dragon King's arena. It's found in front of a Grey Warden holding a battleaxe statue.

This chest is found by going down the ladder near the entrance to the Lava Caves. Then use Lucanis' ability to get over to the other side.

Lava Caves Vault Treasure Chest

The final treasure vault in the Rivain Coast is the Treasure of Sharksmouth Mountain. Move the Grey Warden statues found before the Dragon King's arena to face the correct direction. Once done, the door to the vault will open.

Hall of Valor Treasure Chest Location

The Lords of Fortune have a single treasure chest hidden in their base of operations.

Head down the stairs on either side of the main area. Keep following a downward trajectory until you come across a small library in the Archives and Storage area of the Hilt.

Interact with the shelf to reveal a small area with a ladder. Climb up to find the treasure chest on a wooden platform. Inside you'll find a Lords of Fortune themed treasure chest.

This is the first chest you can find in Necropolis Halls. As soon as you walk in to speak with Vorgoth and Myra, look to your left and you'll see the chest.

Hollow Belfry, Upper Treasure Chest

This chest is best reached when following Emmrich to the Venatori tethered mechanism on the upper level of the main room. It's all the way down on the opposite end of where you enter the hallway.

You can see this chest, high up on a ledge, in the Cascades area of the Necropolis Halls. Reaching it means some climbing. Climb up a ledge, then have Sprite bring out a platform. Jump to it, then jump to the wooden beam on the stone wall. Jump to the next beam, then jump down to the ledge. Jump from this ledge to where the chest is.

Cascades Treasure Chest 2

The door to this chest only opens when you complete the Wisp's puzzle in the room before. Follow the Wisp and light the braziers in the exact order it interacts with them. Even though the braziers on the stairs are close, lighting both at the same time won't solve the puzzle.

This chest is extremely easy to miss. Found on a private balcony, the entrance is shrouded in dark mist. In the Vault of the Beloved, look for a large door on a rocky ledge. Walk through it to appear on the balcony.

Cascades Treasure Chest 3

While this is a Cascades chest, the easiest way to reach it is to teleport to The Memorial Garden Beacon. From there, head towards the Time of Day bell. There's a path to the left that leads around, connecting to the cascades. Instead of going up the stairs, say on the left side to get the chest. Contains:

Sheltered Glade Treasure Chest

This chest is accessed by completing a statue puzzle. Rotate the Grey Warden statues so they each face an unlit brazier, which will light them. One brazier has falled off the broken ledge and is on the ground to the right of the ladder, so a statue will seem like it's pointing to nothing.

Blighted Grove Treasure Chest

Destroy the Blight to reach the chest.

Flooded Farmlands Treasure Chest

In the Flooded Farmlands, you'll find this chest inside an open house. The house is to the left of the Beacon when you load into the area.

Flooded Farmlands Treasure Chest 2

Go straight up from the Beacon to the northern edge of Flooded Farmlands. You need to clear the Blight to get into the left house. Clear the Blight in the house, then cross the wooden beam. The chest is on the left side of the room near the ladder. You'll come across it during Only An Echo as this is the family's house you were sent to find.

Solitude's Edge Treasure Chest

This chest close to Gaspin Manor in Solitude's Edge. It's in the other house aside from the doctor's so you can wait until you get the quest Cabin in the Blight to search it, but this is in the same area as the Blight Cyst.

Inside the house, there's a breakable wall on the far left corner. The chest is outside and to the left.

Gaspin Manor Treasure Chest

This chest is found on the second floor of the manor. Go up the stairs and take the second room on the left. Follow the path across the remaining ruins to reach the chest in the first room. Contains:

This chest requires a little work. Defeat any enemies in the area, then destroy the crytals. Dispel the magic and then interact with the stone to reveal a hidden room. Enemies may attack again, so be alert.

This area of the Hossberg Wetlands becomes available when you accept Davrin's companion quest, The Cauldron. To reach this chest, bring the Wisp to the node to activate the ladder. Climb it to find the chest.

This chest in the Inner Courtyard is found on the second level near the first ballista you come across. This is the one farthest from the castle itself.

The Cauldron Treasure Chest

This is a missable chest found in the Cauldron. After you go through the hallway of Blight years and go through the door, go straight down the hall. You'll need to clear Blight Blisters, but it's at the very end. Don't turn into the large circular room to the left.

Once you complete the quest, The Cauldron, the door to the hallway will close and cannot be opened.

Blighted Shallows Treasure Chest
