How To Romance River Ward

Listed below is every Main Job, Side Job, and dialogue option that you will need to select in order to romance River Ward.

Every Main Job Required to Romance River

To romance River, you will need to complete the following list of Main Jobs to unlock his series of Side Jobs.

• Life During Wartime
  • Following the completion of Life During Wartime and meeting one of the three Street Cred requirements, you'll receive a phone call from Elizabeth Peralez, which will eventually lead you to your first meeting with River Ward.

Every Major Side Job and Dialogue Options Needed to Romance River

Once you have completed Life During Wartime, you will unlock the ability to take part in River's series of major Side Jobs.

Comprising of a total of 3 missions, you'll help River rescue his nephew, Randy, from a notorious kidnapper. Following the rescue, River will invite V to dinner.

Here is a complete list of all major Side Jobs, dialogue options, and special conditions that you will need to complete in order to romance River.

I Fought The Law

Requirements: Completed Life During Wartime and achieved at least the second Street Cred tier in Westbrook (9), Heywood (13), or City Center (9). Once those requirements are completed, you'll receive a phone call from Elizabeth Peralez.

• This is the first mission in which you'll meet River. You are free to complete this quest how you please, as there are no required options that you need to select.

The Hunt

Requirements: Completed I Fought The Law and waited 24 in-game hours for a phone call.

• The Hunt is River's first major side quest that features consequences for your actions. It's important that you chose correctly, otherwise you'll lose the opportunity to romance River.
• During the mission, you'll enter a braindance that requires you to scan an area for clues. If scanned and found all of the required clues during the braindance, River will automatically drive you to the correct farm. Should you have missed a series of clues, you'll need to guess the correct farm when asked. The correct farm name is Edgewood.
• At the end of the mission, River will question whether he should seek revenge. To continue a romantic relationship with River, select either of the following options:
  
  • "Don't do it, River."
  • "We both will."

Following The River

Requirements: Completed The Hunt and waited 24 in-game hours for a phone call.

• While speaking with River on top of the water tower, you'll have your first romance option. When prompted, select the "[Kiss]" option. With one thing leading to another, you'll waking up next to River the following morning.
• If you're looking to continue a relationship with River, you'll want to select the [Kiss] option when prompted, followed by "I feel good around you". This will assure that you enter a romantic relationship with River.

If you complete the Phantom Liberty expansion, there's another ending you can unlock called The Tower, which features a brief ending that V can have with River as well. To read it, open the spoiler box below:
