I Walk the Line Walkthrough
This page is part of IGN's Cyberpunk 2077 Wiki guide and details a complete walkthrough for the I Walk the Line Main Job, along with every major choice and consequence that's available during the mission.
This walkthrough features a guide for playing true stealth (minimal encounters) and stealth but taking down all the Animals in the GIM, room by room. If you're going in shooting, you'll want to follow the latter walkthrough. You'll find prompts to jump to the walkthrough version you need contextually in the walkthrough.

When you're ready to start this Main Job, make your way over to the Grand Imperial Mall. The parking lot is a mess. Find the two Voodoo Boys on lookout by following the waypoint.
These two have been watching Animal movements around GIM and they're not discreet about it. Ask them for the entrance and you'll get a new waypoint.
Here's where you'll need to decide how you want to approach this mission: Are you going in guns out and aggressive? Or will you follow Placide's request to go as unnoticed as possible? You can make it through this area completely through stealth and not fire a single bullet.
But does it matter to Placide if you're detected? Click or tap the spoiler below for the answer.
Getting to the Entrance of GIM
The Voodoo Boys direct V to a ramp that leads down into a loading area of the mall. As you approach you do need to decide how you're going about playing.
If you're going in with guns out, be aware that there are thee Animals in the middle of the loading area. There are two hanging turrets in the area too. One is on the left and the other on the right. The If you start shooting it's likely you'll attract their backup from the area just beyond here in addition to all the firepower they have at this entrance.
For our stealth players, hug the left or right side of the loading area. Be sure to use breach protocol to get the quickhack bonus, and if you've got the perk upgrade, shut down all the cameras.
Once you reach the back wall of the loading area continue along it and move up the small ramp Not far are five Animals spread out. Keep your cover behind the vans and other things around the area. If you wait long enough four Animals leave. The starts with the first two at the front of the area. Then, as you move back, you can wait and two will chat with a third briefly before hopping in a car.
If you pay attention to their conversation, you can overhear (or read with the blue subtitles) them discussing the two Voodoo Boy lookouts and the supplies they have in GIM.
After the final two enter their car and drive away, the final guy climbs the stairs and stands guard at a door. You can enter the mall through the open loading area on the ground floor, climb boxes on the left side of the room, and sneak behind the Animal to take him out with a stealthy attack.
Now that this area is clear you loot all the things. Just be careful if you walk toward the doorway leading into the mall. There's a security camera just beyond the Tripple Xtreme workout sign.
With the camera deactivated you can walk to the shelf just past the gym entryway. Move the items then, so long as you have level 5 Intelligence, you can hack the Access Point.
Inside the Grand Imperial Mall
You've got a few options for getting into the GIM at this point. The quick way with the least amount of combat (and fewest rewards) requires stealth and a fair number of points in certain attributes. We'll go over the quick stealth version first followed by the long stealth.
If you're playing aggressively by taking on any enemies you encounter, the second option on how to clear the mall should be helpful for you.
Getting through with stealth, fewest encounters
Video Walkthrough: Stealth Run
First up, if you have 10 Body or 10 Technical ability, you can skip the actual gym of GIM and use one of these doors right by the gym entrance to skip to the second floor of the mall. Both doors lead to the same place.
Sneaking Through the Gym
If you don't you'll need to make your way through the gym. There are two guys hanging out by the entrance. It should be easy enough to eliminate the first near the counter. With that done you can hang left and take care of the one guy who roams back here. When you get a chance (and if you have it) use the Ping quickhack to see enemy positions.
There are two Animals upstairs and they will move around after a bit. There's another Animal sitting at the base of the deactivated escalator as well. Use the Distract Enemies quickhack to get enemies to move as needed while you move through the gym and to evade the two up top. Once you make it out of the gym (do so slowly as there should be one Animal in the hallway) go left. Continue on with the guide for more directions.Head up the stairs and, if you used the doors to skip the gym, you'll find yourself in front of an arcade with two long hallways going either way. If you want to get to the van, you're going to want to go left.
Move carefully, though. down the first hall are two enemies that will pace back and forth every now and then. To the left you might have one Animal though they will move down the hall.
If you get a chance, use Ping on any enemy you find. This will show the locations of most of the nearby enemies. While you're waiting for that one Animal on the left to move you can eliminate the first guy down the right hall. Once his pal moves away, approach through the arcade. Sneak up behind him and take him out. You can hide his body in the crate on the left.
After that guy on the left moves, proceed with caution. There are two Animals on the second floor of the gym.
Sneak quickly past the door. If it looks like you're going to attract their attention, use an object nearby them and Quickhack your own distraction. However, like the Animals before them, they should move after they finish their conversation.
Proceed down the hall, hugging the left wall as much as you can.
Once you get to the turn you've made it to the tricky part. Down this hall are two enemies (one that paces pretty far back and forth) plus several rooms with enemies in them. You can ignore them for now. However, you do need to pay attention to the enemies on the other side of the walkway. If you're standing in the wrong spot they might see you. Just be sure to stay behind cover.
Since the two enemies on this long hall tend to stay near each other, all you need to do is wait for the one that paces to turn around and walk away from you.
She makes a rather long walk away, so during that time take out her buddy tinkering with the vending machine and toss his body in the nearby freezer. Then, hide near the vending machine.
When the Animal approaches, use the Distract Enemies on the vending machine to get her attention. Eliminate her while she's distracted and toss her body in the freezer or hide it behind something. Depositing bodies is your safest bet no one will find them later on if they break their holding pattern.
With these two enemies down be sure to huge the left wall, moving quickly past doorways as you pass them. Follow the bed of the hallway, but don't go down the elevator.
You can hop down from there, but there's a better direct route to the van. Take a left at the end of the hall, past the trash, then down the escalators. Ta-da! You've made it to the van. Scan it, but don't approach yet.
Not far away from the van is a live turret. You'll need to shut it down before you connect to the van. Move behind the cover to the left of the escalators and shut it down. Be careful, though. There's one Animal pacing by the turret. Don't let him see you while you're scanning it.
Once that's done make your way to the van and jack in. Patrice sees some interesting information, but it's not long before the NetWatch Netrunner spots them. The last part of V's job is hunting down the Netrunner, but it's not going to be easy. The doors around V shutdown and nearby Animals are suddenly aware of V's position. Return to the hiding spot to the left of the escalators and move as they settle in your old spot.
Placide recommends V takes the elevator shaft up. Both are without elevator cars, so you can take your pick. We recommend hopping up the one closest to V.
When you reach the top, use something to distract the enemy directly across the way and do the same for the enemy right outside your elevator. The two Animals should break their pattern, allowing you to take care of the one guy on your side of the mall.
Distract him with the digital banners on the wall then sneak attack him. Once he's down you can deposit his body in the nearby bin.
Now, you're ready for Sasquatch. You can enter the cinema by passing the escalator and going around the corner to the big, dark room. In the middle is the Animal boss. However, you can also enter through the Kabayan Foods. This will put you on the other side of Sasquatch and near the entrance to the cinema! This is the easiest way to skip her. If you eliminated the guy mentioned above, you should be able to sneak into that restaurant no problem.
Considering Sasquatch is a boss character, you'll get a ton of money, XP, and Street Cred if you choose to fight her. Click or tap here for the Sasquatch boss fight guide. Again, you don't have to fight her. You can sneak around her and just steal her weapon instead!
If you're entering the room on the side of the elevators rather than through the restaurant, move slowly. You'll be doing a lot of that for the next few minutes. This is easier if you have a lot of RAM, but you'll just have to be patient if you don't.
Your goal here is to raise the advertisement screens from the ground and get Sasquatch to face the other way while you cross. If she stays looking your way too long, find something nearby to distract her with. If she charges one of your screens it's sort of done for, so try to avoid that where you can.
Once you make it to the screens in the middle of the room, you should see her hammer not too far away, Raise the screens around it. Don't go to it if Sasquatch is near, though. You can swing behind the cover on the left while hugging the left wall, sneak up and grab her hammer, then turn toward the left and walk up the small staircase into the Cinema.
Congratulations! You've made it through this area with stealth.

Eliminating All Enemies with Stealth
Your first room is the gym in the GIM. If enemies aren't rushing you from a commotion made outside and you want some element of surprise, you'll need to shut down a security camera just past the open entryway to the gym.
Note: This part of the walkthrough is written from a stealth perspective to give you the best picture of enemy locations. However, not that the GIM is a big area with enemies spread throughout two floors and multiple rooms. Stealth eliminating all enemies will take a long time. If you don't have the patience, you can pull out a gun once you feel like you've gotten enough stealth XP.
If you have 10 Body or 10 Technical ability, you can skip the actual gym of GIM and use one of these doors right by the gym entrance to skip to the second floor of the mall. We're going through every room in this mall, though, so open it if you can for some loot but return back to the gym entryway and get ready to eliminate some Animals.
Once the Animals settle, you'll have three to deal with at the entryway. Two watch one Animal fighting a robot (yes, this robot is an enemy too but you can sort of skip it so long as you stay out of its sight. Once things are clear or if gunfire breaks out, you can kill it (with or without hacking) for Legendary Item Components. Just make sure you do it before interfacing with the van.). If you use ping on any of these three guys, you'll see there's another Animal sitting at the edge of an escalator not far away along with one more leaning against a rail watching too. He'll eventually move to a machine. There are two more upstairs as well.
Stealth attack the Animal sitting on the counter first and hide his body. Then, use Ping on any device on your side of the counter and hide. This should attract the fighter. While he's distracted eliminate him, leaving the watcher and the robot left. Now you can eliminate the other watcher, but be careful to not get spotted by the robot.
With the entryway clear, the Animal that's on the machine part of the room to the left of where you entered should have moved by now to a bench press machine. Not only does this fool not have a spotter, the machine he's using is, well, a machine, meaning you can hack it and kill him with it. Gym safety, y'all.
Now, you can try and get the Animal on the escalator to move by using a Distract quickhack or you can move up the opposite escalator, eliminate the two Animals on the second floor, then sneak behind him going down the escalator and eliminating him. The choice is yours. Either way, you should be done clearing the gym.
You're ready to take on the rest of the Grand Imperial Mall. We recommend clearing the top right side, lower right, top left, then lower left. Leave the middle for the end. If you mess up clearing the mall with stealth you'll likely have fewer enemies to take on if you clear the mall this way.
As you immerge from the second floor gym entrance, you may see an Animal on the left side of the walkway by the escalator. If you wait a bit they'll move downstairs. There are two more Animals on the right you'll need to worry about, but not too much worry. Swing into the the arcade on the right and you can take out the the first of the two Animals on the right path. There's a storage bin for the body right next to him too. Convenient.
To get the second Animal, wait till she walks a bit closer and use a quickhack to distract her before eliminating her. Or, you can follow her by sneaking behind cover to cover and take her out when she stands at the end of the hall. Just be careful to not get spotted by enemies on the other side of the mall walkway.
Note: Not all loot is being listed, but there's plenty of ammo, weapons, random clothes, food, and crafting components scattered about.
Now, return to the Arcade. Sit at the top of the escalator. There are two sleeping enemies a room over on the first floor and one awake who will pace between the room below the Arcade and the next. Wait for the opportunity to distract him with the TV at the base of the stairs then take him out when he's distracted. Move into the next room.
If you sneak up behind the sleeping Animals you can still grapple them even though they're laying down. Eliminate these two then you're clear to look their room and the next. There's plenty of Eurodollars and ammo here.
Now, double back up the escalator. As mentioned previously, the next best way to clean the mall is to continue with the second floor before going through the rest of the first floor. If you already eliminated the Animals in the gym, the path toward the left side of the mall should be clear. If not, you can wait for one animal to loiter by the left side escalator for a bit before the enemy moves downstairs.
Move behind the nearest cover at the start of the long walkway. Down it are two Animals outside of shops: one is tinkering with a vending machine while another walks along the walkway. Before we address any Animals inside the shops, let's take out these two. Wait for the pacing Animal to turn around and walk way from your direction then take out the animal tinkering with the vending machine.
Hide the body in a nearby bin or throw it behind cover along the walkway. Once the other Animal starts making their way back toward you, use the vending machine as a distraction with the Quickhack and eliminate them. Now that the upper walkway is cleared you can start addressing the shops.
The first shop, Kabayan foods, has three Animals and one turret. The turret shouldn't be active, but it will be if they spot you. Lure out the three separately (and use any other Quickhacks to disrupt their vision if needed) to eliminate them.
There should be an additional Animal or two in the next shop over. There's no name for the shop, but it has plenty of shelves for cover and some electronics you can use as a distraction. You can also get to the first floor from here if you walk down the escalators, but we recommend doing that from the other side of the mall instead.
You're almost done. Downstairs should only have one turret and seven Animals left. Two are together not far from the middle of the mall. If you return to the Gym or the Arcade, run down to their respective first floor for a safer spot to lure them away from the rest of the Animals. Separate them with Quickhack distractions to take them out.
You can lure them into any of the shops you've cleared out (so long as they're in range of the distraction, which you can see by looking at the circle that shows on your minimap when you're in the scanner) or use the kiosks in the middle as a way to sneak around to one that's been distracted.
Before you do anything else, turn off the turret near the van if you haven't already. Now, the two Animals in the back near the van can be tricky with their proximity to the other three van guards, but you'll want to eliminate the one that walks around first. The other should stay sitting in his spot on the bench.
The final three Animals are right next to the van. They're on the opposite side of the part you need to hack, but like with the restaurant upstairs, use Quickhacks to pull them apart and eliminate them one by one. If you've cleared the rest of the mall already you'll have the whole ground floor to work with.
Once you've eliminated the final few Animals on the lower floor you're free to loot and connect to the van for Placide! Just be sure to do all your looting before you connect to the van. Some areas are shut off and a pain to get to later if you do it after.
V and Placide are spotted by the Netwatch Netrunner, and until V takes care of him, their job isn't done. Go upstairs and follow the waypoint to the cinema.
We recommend entering the Cinema area through the second floor Kabayan Foods. There's another entrance on the far side of the mall by escalators, but that entrance makes the first steps of the fight potentially a little more challenging.
Taking on Sasquatch - Boss Fight
Now that you've reached the entryway to the Cinema, you can take on the Animal boss, Sasquatch. You don't actually have to fight her, though. If you prefer to skip this fight you can sneak around the area toward the door. Just be sure to use cover through the digital ads (you'll need to raise them through the Activation Quickhack) and Distract Quickhack to draw her attention away from your position.
If you plan on fighting, there's actually an exploit for infinite Money, XP, and Street Cred immediately after you defeat her. You can find the guide for that here:
Now, let's get down to business.
Matilda K. Rose (Sasquatch) - Animals | |
Rewards | $15,000 and 1500 Street Cred |
Weaknesses | 20% Fire |
Resistance | 50% Electric, +4 RAM Hacking |
Weapon | Sasquatch's Hammer - Common Hammer |
Even if you don't plan on taking the stealthy method, sneak into this room and stay out of Sasquatch's sight. Before you begin the battle you can grab her hammer! This is easiest to grab if you entered the room through the second floor entrance through Kabayan Foods. She won't be able to use her hammer if it's in your inventory.
However, if you have a lot of armor or if you're overleveled (16+), it's almost better to let her use her hammer.
At the start of the fight she'll run for her hammer, giving you to plenty of time to sink bullets into the weak point on her back.
If she has her hammer she'll use it for a short time. After three consecutive swings, she'll stop for a few seconds to catch her breath. That's your best opportunity to toss a ton of grenades if you've got them.
If you toss a few the ones that explode after the first should catch her after she falls to the ground.
Sasquatch will try to knock V over and hack them. If this happens, you cannot stop the hack.
This instead puts a second layer onto the fight, and it's in your best interest to finish it quickly. The NetWatch Agent is now in V's system and Placide is doing his best to counter. You'll see a meter appear on the screen that shows the progress of their digital battle. Try to instead focus on killing Sasquatch.
If you've already destroyed Sasquatch's illuminated back pod, do your best to instead get headshots and jump to the side when she charges. Evasion is key.
Any weapon that causes fire damage will do a ton more damage as well. You'll know this is working if she's on fire.
Once Sasquatch is defeated you'll get a line to say to Placide. Just don't forget to loot Sasquatch before you go!
Sasquatch Loot Contents: Like much of the loot in Cyberpunk 2077, the loot on Sasquatch is randomized. You should get a Legendary piece of clothing, a weapon, Eurodollars, and a MaxDoc.
If you haven't already picked up Sasquatch's Hammer you should be able to find it somewhere around the arena. It will not be in her inventory.
Proceed through the doors that lead to the cinema.
Meeting the Netrunner
Once you've made it into the cinema Placide is disconnected from V by force. A cowboy movie plays in the background as you approach the projection booth. Inside you'll fight NetWatch's Agent. This Netrunner is probably unlike the other Netrunners you've encountered thus far. He's got a button up and tie, not a neat future suit or tech. He looks like he belongs in an office.
You can immediately take him out as instructed or you can hear him out and make a new deal.
I Walk the Line Major Choice - The NetWatch Agent's Deal
Choice: The Netrunner claims the Voodoo Boys will kill V as soon as they're done with them. So, the Netrunner offers to help V and let Brigitte and her accomplice go if V lets the Netrunner go with all the data he's gathered.
Choice | Consequence |

Work with the Netrunner and betray the Voodoo Boys | Tap to Reveal |
Refuse the Netrunner and stick with the Voodoo Boys | Tap to Reveal |
Before you leave the projection booth be sure to grab the mod in the case to the left of the crates by the door.
Now that you've completed I Walk the Line, you can proceed to Transmission.
