Tips to Help Reduce Noise Pollution in Cities: Skylines 2
- Traffic is often your number one source of noise pollution, particularly heavily trafficked roads such as highways, industrial and commercial centers, and transportation hubs. So, be sure to keep heavily trafficked areas away from residential areas.
- Trees can act as sound barriers and will slightly reduce the noise produced by highly trafficked roads such as highways and business centers.
- Create and enforce district-only policies that prevent heavy traffic and even combustion engine vehicles from traveling through designated districts. You can also opt to implement speed bumps, which will reduce vehicle speeds, hence lowering noise pollution as well.
- Route heavily trafficked roads underground when possible, as this will significantly dampen the sound they produce.
- Sound barriers can be implemented onto highways to help mitigate some of their noise.
- Ensure noise-polluting buildings and commercial businesses are zoned well away from residential areas. It's also essential to ensure roads leading to these areas do not travel directly through residential zoning.
- Office buildings often produce little to no noise pollution, so they're a great zone to use as a sound barrier.
