Guide part 27
advertisement
Replace Trishka with the General. Different squad members, same crap. Head down the stairs and get ready to rock.
Once you encounter the lightning storm, you can throw enemies out for the skillshot "Outburst". Since the storm kills enemies like the skillshot Pricked, you may want to bind them with the flailbombs for the Sadist skillshot.
An armored mini-boss will attack shortly after you battle through the first wave of enemies. The challenge here (especially on the harder difficulties) is the low cover in the fighting zone. The sofa is probably the toughest object in the room, so use it to recover and reload.
Take out the mini-boss and use the mini-gun on the next batch of enemies if you want the skillshot "Full Throttle".
If you want an easier time with the next armored mini-boss (the Driller boss), take the mini-gun to the office area and drop it (so you have moderate battery power to hose and kill the boss).
There is an ammo box in the office area where you battle the Driller boss. Try to avoid picking up the ammo box until you are in need of ammo against the boss. If you have that mini-gun from the previous fight, try to keep it in mind (but don't use it).
To defeat the driller mini-boss, you need to destroy the shield generator on the stomach, then weaken / deliver the kill as usual. Until the shield generator is neutralized, you have zero chance of injuring the enemy.
Handy Tip ? Penetrate the Driller

The driller mini-boss is more difficult to deal with than the other mini-boss types (the Cannon wielder and the Mini-Gunner) since each shot the Driller connects with you locks your character in a prolonged stunned mode.
While stunned, other enemies can attack you (and kill you) while you are prevented from retaliating. Try to use the mini-gun and some light cover to avoid the drill, and return fire when you can.
After killing the boss, the Driller weapon is a good replacement for the Bouncer (even if you like the explosives) since the regular shot can kill any enemy (except the mini-bosses and large Burnout mutant).
The next dropkit doesn't have any upgrades for the Driller, but if you want, upgrade and refill the ammunition for the Driller. Since the drill shot will push enemies forwards (and away) from you, you can stack the skillshot with the Outburst skillshot (shoot people into the storm).
A cannonball ball wielding armored mini-boss will attack shortly the pit past the mini-gunner. Kill the mini-boss (blow the pack with the PMC) but don't take the Bouncer. The enemies here are not Burnouts, so feel free to deploy ranged attacks to avoid being caught up in a cross-fire.
There are almost no enemies in the lobby. If you're not hurting for skillpoints and want to spare ammo, stick to the Bulletkick or Bulletslide. Otherwise, opt to line enemies up and drill shot them.

This ominous hallway to the dropkit (you cannot fire in this hallway) is the prelude to a difficult fight with two armored mini-bosses (at once). One is a Driller and the other is a Bouncer -- this forces you to engage them differently (and likely, separately).
For now, feel free to thump the whole room and get rid of the peon trash occupying your fighting space. There are a few ammo boxes in the hotel ballroom -- get them if you are low on ammunition. Remember boxes do not refill any ammunition for the Leash / Thumper.
Since there's almost no cover in the ballroom, you may want to use the raised sections of floor (near the stairs) to block enemy fire.
Take out either boss (with luck one of them will be attracted to Ishi and the General, leaving you alone), and if need be, use a Flailbomb to restrain the Driller so you can focus on shooting the shield off of his stomach.
Head down the lift once you're done with the bosses. Be sure to fill up on ammunition -- Driller ammunition is handy for the next level.
Some illustrations of the ammo boxes in the ballroom. Basically, they are in the corners or the bottom of the stairs. Both spots are highly exposed and vulnerable to enemy fire.
There won't be any more enemies after the lift in the ballroom. Just follow the NPCs down to the basement and leash-pull the elevator so you can use it to end the level.
