Multiplayer
Battleborn includes three competitive team-based Multiplayer game modes. These modes allows players to compete online against others around the world, or they can all be played solo with AI teammates and enemies. Each game mode allows a max of 10 players (5 vs 5).
Incursion
Incursion is one of three competitive Multiplayer game modes in Battleborn. The objective of Incursion is to destroy the two large sentries in the enemy team's bases. As you reduce their health bars, the enemy team's score will lower from 100 to 0. The first team to destroy the other team's two sentries, or the team with the most points at the end of the 30 minute time limit, will win the game.
Destroying the enemy team's sentries is a lot harder than you may think. Each sentry has a massive health bar and a tough shield. Not only does it have strong defenses, but it also has a very devastating laser attack. Teamwork is required to take it down.

Buildable turrets and supply stations, along with robotic minions, will more than likely be guarding each sentry. The best thing to do is escort your team's minions to the enemy sentry to help strip its shield. Weaker minions will automatically spawn and run straight into battle, but the tougher MX Elite Bot must be built with 600 shards near your base, and only one can be on the field at a time. Shards can be earned by destroying shard clusters around the map, defeating enemy players, and destroying the first sentry.
Focus on destroying the opponents' buildables and minions first to keep the pressure off your team before turning your attention to the sentry itself. There will be a number of turrets surrounding the sentry, and the supply station will heal any opponents near it. If possible, build your own turrets and supply stations once the option appears at the destroyed node.
Additionally, Outcast Thralls can be recruited at select capture pads around the map. One pad is located near one team's base, another pad is location near the other team's base, and the third pad is located at the middle of the map. The Thralls will fight anyone in the area when they first appear during a match. The team that can defeat the Thralls and stand on the nearby capture pad to fill a small meter on screen will recruit one or two Outcast Thralls. This will help your team tremendously as you fight towards each sentry.
If you find yourself on defense, make sure all the turrets in your base are built and upgraded to level three, and the same goes for the supply station. A buildable will be at level one once it is built, then it can be upgraded two times with shards. Focus on enemy minions before they take away your sentry's shield, and try to recruit Outcast Thralls to help with enemy Battleborn.
Capture
Capture is one of three competitive Multiplayer game modes in Battleborn. Two teams of heroes (five vs five) face off in a fast-paced death match and must capture and hold three objectives on the map to win.
The objectives on the map are known as Energy Collectors. A player must stand on Energy Collector points labeled A, B, or C to begin capturing them for their team. It takes about seven seconds to capture a point alone. If the enemy team is holding an Energy Collector, is must be neutralized before it can be captured. Neutralizing an objective works the same as capturing. Stand on the Energy Collector for seven seconds to neutralize, then stand there for another seven seconds to capture. However, if there are Battleborn from both teams on the capture point, the capture / neutralize meter will stop.

One point will be added to the scoreboard every second for each Energy Collector that is held by the team. If a team has two captured Energy Collectors, two points will be added to their scoreboard every second. The first team to reach 1000 points, or the team with the most points within the 15 minute time limit, will win the game.
This game requires both offensive and defensive tactics to win, and they will revolve around the buildable turrets and supply stations near each capture point.
When going on the offensive, try taking out all turrets first. They can deal quite a bit of damage, but their defenses are often weak until they get upgraded. Upgrading a turret shouldn't happen until later in the game when players earn more shards. Once the area is cleared of buildables, focus your attention on Battleborn Heroes and try to capture the objective. The more players on the capture point, the faster it will neutralize and capture.
The defensive is pretty much the opposite of the offensive. Instead of venturing out, players must stand on the capture point and prevent the enemy team from taking over the point. Remember, standing on the capture point will stop the other team from neutralizing or capturing the Energy Collector. Building supply stations will help heal teammates, but they will have to step off the objective to get healed. It's best to focus on building turrets first to keep the pressure on enemies who come to capture the objective. If an enemy combatant takes fire from two turrets and at least one Battleborn Hero on the capture point, things will be much more difficult than taking fire from at least one Battleborn who is getting healed a short distance from the capture point.
At one point in each match the teams must defeat a group of Valersi. They will be highlighted on your HUD by yellow targets. Kill them to obtain helix upgrade tokens. These will bump up your Helix Rank by one per token.
Meltdown
Meltdown is one of three competitive Multiplayer game modes in Battleborn. The objective of Meltdown is to escort your team's minions to minion grinders. This will earn your team “appeasement points,” which are the points needed to win the game. The first team to reach 500 points, or the team with the most points at the end of the 30 minute time limit, will win the game.
There are three types of minions, two of which will spawn automatically near your team's base. Four smaller minions will spawn in a group with one medium-sized minion. The smaller minions are worth 5 points each, and the medium-sized minion is worth 10 points. Players can also build MX.Elite Bots with 600 shards at select build locations near their base.

Build accelerators around the map to get minions to grinders quickly. You will need to escort them or opposing players will destroy them before they can reach the grinders. Likewise, if you see enemy minions, destroy them as fast as possible to prevent the other team from earning points. Minions will travel along gray pathways and only stop to fight other minions blocking their way. They rarely stop to fight Battleborn.
Four minion grinders are located around the middle of the map for both teams – two grinders for each team. Once a team reaches 250 points, that team's minion grinders will move further into the map near the enemy team's base. This will make things a bit more difficult. Don't even try going in the enemy team's base. Turrets with indestructible shields will be blocking the entrance.
Destroy enemy turrets near grinder locations and build your own in their place to tilt the scales in favor of your team. Shards can be earned by destroying shard clusters, defeating enemy players, and for escorting minions to grinders.
