A Spanner in the Works
A Spanner in the Works is the first and only memory in Sequence 01, and serves as a tutorial for the game. As the game begins, Assassin Jacob Frye enters Ferris Ironworks to assassinate its corrupt and malicious owner, Rupert Ferris

Reach Ferris
As you take control of Jacob, your target will leave through a large door at the far end of the factory. This is a good time to begin familiarizing yourself with free-running in the game. There are no guards in the room, and nobody will care much for your antics.
Once you've gotten the hang of running, jumping, climbing, and such, head over to the large doors to find them sealed. It seems you'll need to create a situation for the doors to be opened.
Sabotage the Machines
By halting the machines in the factory, you'll be able to cause a big enough distraction. Start by free running up the ramp and over to the far side of the room where you'll find a valve to turn. For the next valve, jump across to the far wall and run up the ramp to the upper level where the next valve is. For the last valve, make your way across the narrow plank to the other platform and turn the last valve, halting the machines.
Assassinate and kill the Thugs
One of Ferris' cronies will open the door and come in to start yelling. Take this opportunity to try out the air assassination. As you leave, you'll be confronted by more crimson-clothed thugs. This should be your big tip-off that any bad guy in this game is likely wearing red. Start wailing on the thugs with your iron knuckles to get a feel for combat.
You can counter their attacks when you see their health bar flash yellow. If they guard themselves (seen by the white shielding their health bar) perform a stun attack to make them vulnerable. Also remember you can incorporate tools like your throwing knives into the fight.

With your enemies dispatched, make your way through the next set of doors, and begin moving through the large open area to find Ferris at the far end. There are more thugs here, and while they wont attack you outright, they'll become suspicious of you if they see you. You can either opt to be sneaky and use the crowd for cover, or just kill anyone who spots you - there's no penalty for being spotted here.
At the far end where another factory looms, keep to the left and climb up the girders and make your way to a balcony on the left. Now you'll be in a restricted area of the factory, where guards will become a lot more suspcious. If you want to stay out of their way, go into stealth mode to sneak around, and use the large pipe on the left to traverse the room from above, then drop down on the other side. If you have trouble spotting the thugs among the workers, use Eagle Vision to scope them out before you move through.
When you get to the next room with the traincar and reluctant child laborers, keep to the upper floor and cross to the second floor room to get to the other side.
Assassinate Rupert Ferris
Ferris lies beyond the current factory room, in his office on the far side. While there are no strict guidelines for how you need to approach your first target, it might be good to brush up on a stealthy approach. Start by climbing up the support beams and traveling to the far side of the room via the overhead route. Remember - if they aren't wearing red, they aren't going to care about your mischief.
In the next room, stick to the left wall to find an overhead path along the wall and factory smelters. As you near Ferris' office, you'll see several different points of entry. It's up to you how you want to get in - but going in through the open roof is a smart bet that sets you up for a nice air assassination. Listen to him prattle on if you want, then take his life.
Escape on the train

Now that he's dead, its time to go. Make a break for the hallway leading out and free run down to drop on to a departing train. Unfortunatley your deeds have not gone unnoticed, and several thugs will jump onto the train to give pursuit. Take them out as they reach your train car and kick them off. If someone tries to pull a gun on you, quickly press the needed button to dodge or counter.
After a brief cutscene, you'll need to depart whats left of the train. Freerun down the slopes and jump your way to the bottom of the ravine, where the memory will end.
