Bring Down the Xylem
The final mission on the Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon story path that allies with Ayre is Bring Down the Xylem. Having defeated V.II Snail and dismantled the Xylem engines in Destroy the Drive Block, it's not time to finish the job. But what happened to your buddy Rusty? Who could be left to face? Follow our walkthrough to find out.
Bring Down the Xylem Best Build
After a tiny bit of busy work you can do with virtually any weapons, you have the final boss fight of this playthrough against your former mentor. You have a lot of flexibility depending on your go-to playstyle. A heavy or lighter tank with dual Gatling guns and Stun Needle Launchers can work just as well as a lightweight AC with SONGBIRDS and ZIMMERMAN shotguns.

Bring Down the Xylem Walkthrough
The Xylem is already falling, but it still has residual ramjet engines that are active. After the mission starts, you have an easy trip blasting the two engines. But it doesn't end there.
In a grim cutscene, a somehow alive Handler Walter appears, piloting a Coral-powered AC that somehow has all the firepower of CEL 240 but is one of the sturdier mechs you've ever faced.
There's no real trick to fighting Handler Walter. He's functionally similar to CEL 240, and even though he's bulkier than Ayre, he's sporadically faster. As is the case with any boss, it really comes down to how you want to deliver enough impact damage to trigger stagger as often as possible. Double up on whatever strategy you prefer on your primary weapons, and do the same for your back weapons. Eventually, you'll burn him down.
When the battle's over, Walter and the Xylem burn up on re-entry to the planet as Raven boosts away. We never really learn for sure whether they live or die, but considering the possibilities for a person living on through the Coral, that could be what Ayre means when she says they'll find a way for humanity and Coral to live together.
This is the Liberator of Rubicon in which Raven is the planet's hero. But there's always one more mission, right 621?
