No Sleep in 7 Days to Die
The nights can be long in 7 Days to Die, especially since there is no option to sleep. You can craft a Bedroll and place it in your base, but the only z's you'll find in this game are zombies.
How to Craft a Bedroll
You first learn how to make a Bedroll while playing the tutorial quests in 7 Days to Die. As part of the learning process, the game asks you to craft one and place it on the ground.
To make a Bedroll, you must collect 10 Plant Fibers by punching grass with open hands. Once you have the fibers, open up the crafting menu and select the "Basics" tab. Select "Bedroll" and press "Craft." In only two seconds, you'll have a fresh-made Bedroll in your inventory.
How to Use a Bedroll
To use the Bedroll, place it in your hotbar and select it. With it in your hands, look at the ground and pick a cozy spot. Press the left mouse button (right trigger on a controller) to change its positioning, and the right mouse button (left trigger) places it on the ground.
A Bedroll in 7 Days to Die acts as a mobile spawn point you can place just about anywhere in the game. Pressing the "E" key or "Y" button while looking at it puts it back in your inventory. If you die, you can choose whether to spawn on or near your bedroll. You can only have one active Bedroll at a time, so be sure to pick a good spot for it.
Unfortunately, you cannot use the Bedroll to sleep the night away. But you do have options.
How to Change Time
If you're the game server admin, you can use the console command window to change the time in 7 Days to Die. For those who don't want to idle away the night, press the "F1" key on your keyboard to bring up the console command window. Next, type "settime" without quotation marks and then enter one of these commands:
- day
- Changes the day to Day 1 at noon (12:00 p.m.)
- night
- Changes the day to Day 2 at midnight (12:00 a.m.)
Press the "Enter" key to activate the command, and then press "ESC" or "F1" to leave the window.
To avoid resetting the day, use: "settime < day> < hour > < minute >" (no quotation marks). For example, "settime 27 09 00" sets the day to Day 27 at 9:00 a.m.
Another option is to use debug mode. Open up the console command window and type "debugmode" or "dm" and press the "Enter" key. Next, hit "ESC" and use the slider to the right to change the time of day.
