How to Dismantle Cars
Taking an axe to a vehicle is a quick way to gather Iron in 7 Days to Die, but there are better ways to dismantle cars. For example, you can pull a vehicle apart with a Wrench to collect many valuable resources. If you're looking for information on how to dismantle cars, this guide has you covered.
How to Dismantle Vehicles
You can destroy most vehicles in 7 Days to Die using a tool such as an axe or pickaxe. Destroying a car with these tools will give you Iron, a common resource used to craft more items after smelting it in a Forge.
However, you need a Salvage Tool like a Wrench to fully dismantle vehicles in 7 Days to Die. The Wrench is unlocked after you reach Tier 1 in the Salvage Tools section of your Crafting Skills menu by reading one "Scrapping 4 Fun" Skill Magazine. Once you've unlocked the Wrench, you can craft it with 12 Forged Iron, four Mechanical Parts, and two Duct Tape, all of which are materials that can be looted in the game world.
With the Wrench equipped, you can dismantle a vehicle by getting close and holding or tapping the left-click button on your mouse.
It takes Stamina to use the Wrench, so keep an eye on your Stamina meter in the bottom-left corner of your screen. Tapping the right-click button on your mouse increases the salvaging speed but at a higher Stamina cost. You can equip mods such as the Ergonomic Grip Mod to reduce the drain on your Stamina meter.
Dismantling vehicles rewards you with multiple types of valuable resources, including:
- Iron
- Gas Can
- Cloth
- Small Iron Bar
- Mechanical Parts
- Electrical Parts
- Spring
- Headlight
- Engine
- Lead Car Battery
The materials gathered by dismantling vehicles are used in many blueprints in 7 Days to Die, such as the Workbench, Bicycle, Minibike, Lockpick, and more.
You can dismantle vehicles more quickly with better Salvage Tools. As you progress through the Salvage Tools tiers, you can eventually unlock the Ratchet and the Impact Driver.
Other Places to Use the Wrench
The Wrench is a disassembly tool and can rip apart more than vehicles alone. But it makes for a poor weapon. You can dismantle most appliances with it including dishwashers, refrigerators, computers, and more. These items also give you useful crafting materials like the ones listed above.
