How to Collect Water
To collect water in 7 Days to Die, you need a Bucket. The simple item can pick up, place, and remove water blocks, which is perfect for that moat you're making to protect your base. This guide covers everything you need to know to make sure you can get your hands on plenty of water.
How to Get a Bucket of Water
To get a Bucket to collect water in 7 Days to Die, you need to craft one. To do so, collect seven Forged Iron and open up your crafting menu. Use the search function for "bucket" and craft the metal Bucket item. It takes just over a minute to produce.
Next, it's time to locate a source of water. Water sources in the game include lakes, ponds, rivers, and, in this case, a pool behind an apartment complex Place of Interest.
Pressing the "use" button or the left mouse button will pick up a block of water. The Bucket changes to a Bucket of Water, which comes with its own icon.
With a Bucket of Water equipped, you can store the water in a storage container or dump it into a hole to create a new water source.
To do so, find or create a hole in the ground and press the right mouse button (left trigger on a controller) to fill it with the water. The Bucket of Water reverts back to the Bucket, allowing you to use it again. Using the left mouse button (right trigger) removes the water without placing it back in the bucket.
A Bucket of Water can be used for all your base-building needs. If you want to make a pool, you can. Those trying to protect themselves from the ravenous Blood Moon horde may also consider using the item to make a moat around their base. No matter the project, the Bucket is a useful tool for easily moving water from one place to another.
