7 Days to Die Roadmap
As 7 Days to Die approaches its 1.0 launch, the team has revealed a 2024 roadmap that showcases content plans from release into late 2025. It's been a long time waiting, but fans of the zombie survival game should prepare for an influx of exciting new content and changes.
Please note that this roadmap guide will see updates as time goes on. The roadmap itself is subject to changes, so don't expect everything in this guide to be set in stone. Keep your eye on this page for all the content coming to 7 Days to Die.
7 Days to Die 1.0 Launch
After more than a decade, 7 Days to Die is ready for its official launch. The game will leave Steam Early Access and become available on July 25, 2024.
The launch version of the game will usher in new changes: traders and the Armor system are being reworked; more Places of Interest (POI) are included; and new zombies will roam the lands looking for fresh meat.
Price Changes
7 Days to Die will increase in price to coincide with its 1.0 launch, changing from $24.99 to $44.99 on all platforms. Those who currently own 7 Days to Die will not be asked to pay more, as they already own the game.
Alpha Access
If you don't vibe with the 1.0 version of the game, the developer is planning to support Alpha builds you can change to via Steam. Changing the game version is doable via the Steam menu, so long as you're willing to redownload the build. There will still be experimental builds with changes you can try ahead of major updates. See our guide for more information on changing versions.
7 Days to Die - Console Edition
The developer plans to release the 1.0 edition of 7 Days to Die for both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series S|X. The game should launch on July 25, 2024, offering a 25% discount to owners of the legacy version of 7 Days to Die.
7 Days to Die was available on console before the support was dropped. Owners of the older version of the game will have to buy the new version. Saves will also not be compatible. However, the team is happy to report that updates will have parity between console and PC.
Content Roadmap for 2024
7 Days to Die will launch on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam on July 25, 2024. Following the release, the developer is planning on the first content drop in Q4 2024 with Update 1 - Storm's Brewing.
Storm's Brewing will rework the game's weather system and biome progression. It will also add a Wardrobe System. The developer plans on having crossplay between consoles and PC ready for Update 1 but the date isn't guaranteed.
Update 1 - Storm's Brewing also brings:
- Added zombie stages
- Spawn near friend option
- Twitch Drops
- Outfit DLC
Content Roadmap for 2025
Looking toward the future, the developer is planning two additional updates for 7 Days to Die in 2025. The first is Update 2 - A New Threat, which should arrive in Q2 2025. It will introduce Bandits, likely as NPC enemies. The update also overhauls the user interface and menu, adds an event system, and a new quest type for Traders.
Update 3 - The Road Ahead is scheduled to arrive in Q4 2025. It will overhaul the Trader system, add Steam Workshop Support, and introduce a new quest type. Perhaps most importantly, Update 3 will bring a Story Mode to 7 Days to Die. Will players learn how the zombie threat truly began? Is Noah, the mysterious NPC who leaves you a message, getting ushered onto the big stage? Only time will tell, and Q4 2025 is quite a ways away.
