PS5 Pro's Price: "Lack of Competition" Made It Easier for Sony - IGN Daily Fix
In today's Daily Fix:
The gaming world is still reeling from Sony's announcement of the PS5 Pro and its wallet-busting price tag. But professional gaming analysts may have found a culprit: Microsoft. The lack of a mid-gen competitor from Xbox may have emboldened Sony to go with the $700 price tag. In the previous generation, the PlayStation 4 Pro launched at $399 a year before the Xbox One X, which also hit shelves at that price, and was tauted as the "most powerful console" released up to that point. In related news, Sony will also be selling refurbished regular PS5 and PS5 Digital consoles at roughly half the price of the Pro model. The regular PS5 price has not changed, but Sony is guaranteeing the refubrished models will "act like new." And finally, Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree got another update, and this one actually makes the final boss fight a little easier.
