If you’re in the market for a good tablet, then a new iPad is probably the best way to go. Apple’s signature tablet has dominated the market for years and there are quite a few different models to choose from. The only downside of buying an iPad instead of an Android tablet is price. iPads can be very expensive – especially if you’re purchasing a newer iPad Pro.
So if you’re hoping to buy an iPad for a reasonable price, you may be looking forward to Amazon Prime Day to find a decent discount. Prime Day will be happening on July 11-12 this year, and historically it’s been a good time to find some of the best iPad deals around.
What iPad Deals Should You Expect on Amazon Prime Day?
Although there are quite a few different generations of iPads floating around in 2023, you’ll likely only want to concern yourself with the newish models on Prime Day. There are 5 different iPad models that will likely go on sale during the sales event, which include:
- 10.2-inch iPad (9th generation, 2021)
- iPad Mini (6th generation, 2021)
- iPad Air (5th generation, 2022)
- iPad Pro 11-inch (4rd generation, 2022)
- iPad Pro 12.9-inch (6th generation, 2022)
Out of these different options, the best deal is most likely going to be on the 10.2-inch iPad which is regularly priced at $329 for the 32GB version. We expect this price to drop all the way down to $249 on Amazon Prime Day, but it’s possible it could go even further. If you’re looking for the most affordable iPad Pro, then the 11-inch model will probably be your best bet. Normally priced at $799, we expect it to drop down to at least $729 on Prime Day.
In addition to markdowns on newer models, you can also expect renewed and refurbished versions to be available on Amazon for decently low prices. If you don’t mind getting something as old as the 2018 Apple iPad, you should be able to find a price well under $200.
Do Other Retailers Have iPad Deals on Prime Day?
Although Amazon Prime Day deals are exclusive to those with an Amazon Prime subscription, that doesn’t stop other retailers from having their own sales. The Best Buy Prime Day sale is already live and the Walmart counter sale will be live tomorrow. It’s also worth noting that these Amazon competitors tend to offer automatic price matching on many of the more popular iPad models. So if you see something on sale at Amazon, it will likely be priced similarly at Walmart or Best Buy.
The biggest differences between these retailer sales will be stock. Some iPads may sell out at one retailer and remain at others, so if you miss your chance to pick up the iPad deal you were looking for, you may just need to look elsewhere.
Should You Buy an iPad on Prime Day or Wait for Black Friday?
Although Prime Day is essentially Black Friday in July, you may be wondering if you’d be better off waiting for actual Black Friday to make your purchase. While it’s certainly possible that iPads will be cheaper on Black Friday, there probably won’t be any new models released until 2024, so the prices will most likely be similar. Because of that, there’s no real reason to wait that long to make your iPad purchase this summer.
$249 is the lowest price the 9th generation iPad has ever been, and we expect that same price on Prime Day this year. So if you see it drop that low and are in the market for a new iPad, make sure to snag it before the deal is gone.
Early Amazon Prime Day iPad Deals
If you don't want to wait until Prime Day to buy an iPad, the good news is that there are already discounts available. Although the prices will likely drop even further, you don't have to pay full price for these tablets even now.
