Congratulations to last week's winner, Cyberwolf_30 -- be sure to update your contact information on your profile page and keep an eye out for a private message so we can get your information for your slew of new music. With the onset of the "non-game" titles that are making their way into the market, it's generating a new interest in video games from all walks of life. With titles like Brain Age and Big Brain Academy, these titles are part of a new phenomenon that is veering away from the more "hardcore" games that are considered the norm and are becoming more accessible to those outside of the usual gaming market. Offering exercises in logic, reflexes and basic problem solving ability, these new titles have so much to offer and their unique flavors are enticing people to pick them up and try them out. Sure, you may seem like a loon when you're screaming "BLUE!" at your DS when playing one of these games, but their addictive and enjoyable nature quickly sidestep any embarrassment you may suffer from. With the simple pick up and play mechanics, this is quickly becoming a genre that everyone can get into.
What's your opinion on the matter? Do you enjoy these "non-games" or would you prefer a mindless shoot 'em up? Can you appreciate the fact that these titles are aiming to get interest from non-gamers, or do you think it's more important to focus on the core set of gamers first and foremost? Do you enjoy trying to improve your mind, or do you play games to enjoy some escapism for a small while? Are you looking forward to more titles along these lines, or do you think the developers should stop while they're ahead? We'd love to hear what you're thinking!
