Mahjong players, who haven't picked up one of the system's five other mahjong titles, can look forward to (deep breath) Nihon Pro Mahjong Kishikai Kanshuu Pro Ni Naru Mahjong DS. That long title translates to "Become a Pro: Mahjong DS," with the first part meaning that a professional mahjong league out of Japan supervised the game. This latest DS mahjong game features 10 pro mahjong players (yes, there is such a thing) who, breaking all the rules, have decided to appear using their real names -- first and last (Success has even created caricatures for them). A training mode puts you through a number of tough situations, offering advice from pros. The game also includes download play for up to four players.
What's more Japanese than a mahjong videogame? How about a game based on Shogi? The brain twisting Japanese board game will appear for the first time on the DS through Success's new Appare! Shougi-jiisan ~ Washi to Shoubu-ja ~. After hours of heated debate, we've decided to give this game the English name of "Honorable! Uncle Shogi." The game features opponent characters designed by Masayuki Katayama, well known in the mahjong manga world (yes, there is such a thing) and includes download play for up to two players.
Both of these Japan-only titles will see release on 11/24.
