First Look: Evolution Skateboarding

Solid Snake will make his debut on GameCube, not in his usual Metal Gear adventure, but in the newly announced Evolution Skateboarding from Konami. No doubt inspired by the one that started it all, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, Konami's new take on the extreme sports genre will include slick graphics, authentic tricks, in addition to exaggerated fantasy levels and even bosses.

Evolution Skateboarding will take you through the glowing streets of Tokyo, the dark undergrounds of a European castle, and through some very Metal Gear esque environments. It all sounds promising on paper, and even looks quite nice in the first set of screenshots, but it's still a wait-and-see situation as to gameplay. With no hands-on time with the GameCube version yet, we can't speak for its play mechanics.

Evolution Skateboarding is set to ship in October. Look for impressions soon. In the meantime, check out the first screens, from what we presume to be the PS2 version, in our media section.
