The third of the Bond titles for EA, 007 Racing (PSX), which shipped last month, blends racing and action into a strange hybrid of international spy missions with the old arcade racing game, Spy Hunter. Players achieved mission goals by blasting through speedy racing levels, blowing up enemy cars via Twisted Metal style car combat levels, and by using a cache of weapons and gadgets built into Bond's various vehicles (Aston Martin DB 5, BMW Z3 Roadster, etc.). While speculation, IGNPS2 believes that the sequel will include much better-looking graphics, dozens of new levels and missions, and additional vehicles.
While it's easy to speculate that EA would develop a sequel for any of its games, a leak inside EA has told IGNPS2 that 007 Racing for PS2 is definitely happening. An internal EA team is currently working on the project, which looks to be more innovative than its predecessor is. Referring to the 007 Racing sequel, the course said, "the in-house PS2 version, which is coming along nicely, if not innovatively..."
When phoned today, EA responded by saying, "We do not comment on speculation and rumors."
IGNPS2 will have more news on EA's upcoming racer in the near future.
